Artists from Japan, America, France, and Thailand have come together to create a charity book to benefit victims of the March 11 Great Eastern Japan Earthquake (Higashi Nihon Daishinsai) disaster. Sales of the book, titled Little Hands, will be donated to the Japanese Red Cross to assist with reconstruction efforts.
17 creators donated works to the book, including The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya original character designer Noizi Ito. Other Japanese contributors include Takami Akai (Crest of the Stars, Gurren Lagann), Yoshitoshi ABe (Haibane Renmei, Serial Experiments Lain), Keitaro Arima (Tsukuyomi: Moon Phase), Tomo Kataoka, Chisato Naruse, Takeshi Nogami, Riho Sachimi, Subamu, Syungo Sumaki, and Luna Tsukigami.
France contributors include Dara, Galou, Kara, and Sedeto. American artist Jason Robinson and Thai artist zpolice also contributed works.
The book will be sold at booths at Paris' Japan Expo and Los Angeles' Anime Expo, both of which are being held this weekend. The book will also be sold at the Fancy Frontier event in Taiwan on July 30-31. At each booth, buyers can also write messages of support to victims of the disaster. The book will then be sold at the Summer Comic Market dōjinshi event in Japan on August 12-14.
