After winning a Monster Rancher tournament, Genki is crowned champion and receives a special disc as a prize. But when he slips the disc into his console, he finds himself magically transported into the Monster Rancher world. A world that desperately needs his help.

The evil Moo has been unlocked and is slowly taking over the world by turning all the good monsters into evil ones. Soon Genki meets Holly, and she tells him about her quest to defeat Moo by finding the mystery disk that contains the legendary Phoenix, the only creature that can change the bad monsters back. The pair set out to find the disk, accompanied by their monster friends Mocchi and Suezo. But in order to unlock the Phoenix, Genki and his friends will have to battle against Moo's Big Bad Four, the Black Dino Squad, and all sorts of other creatures. Will they be able to defeat Moo and find the Phoenix before its too late?
