Although Ken Ishikawa's death played a big part in the manga being left unfinished, it should be worth noting that Ken Ishikawa was known for often leaving several of his manga stories on abrupt and unresolved endings without ever completing them. Getter Robo Arc was also put on hiatus in 2003, which was three years before Ishikawa passed away, and unlike other manga artists, who often write drafts for the endings of their stories for someone else to complete in case they pass away before they can finish writing their works, Ken Ishikawa never did that, which suggests that he never had a clear idea on how to conclude the story, even years before his tragic death.
