Trivia:
The phrase surrounding the Laughing Man's logo/cybermask, 'I thought what I'd do was I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes', is actually a quote from the book 'The Catcher in the Rye' by J. D. Salinger. In the novel, the full passage is: 'I thought what I'd do was I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes. That way I wouldn't have to have any goddam stupid useless conversations with anybody.' In fact, J. D. Salinger also wrote a short story called the Laughing Man.
