In the episode where Gawl has to jump those hordes, you can see a girl in background that looks a lot like Rei from Evangelion.
during the beginning of the episode "best of both worlds" the energy raiders parody references both super sentai/power rangers and kamen rider where the designs for the suits for the raiders references slightly on the helmet designs from the first super sentai Go Ranger and the villain grunts whose design reference bears a striking resemblance to Kamen Rider's familiar villain grunts the dai shocker grunts
Easter egg: Main character in video game in episode 1 is Gene Starwind from Outlaw Star.
