Plot Summary:
Humans plan to terraform a planet for colonists in cryosleep on a slower-than-light ship by sending copies of Nina, Mack, Oscar, Patty, and Lewis on a faster-than-light terraforming mission. Living creatures cannot survive faster-than-light travel, so when their ship drops into normal space, a system called the Womb 3D-prints bodies for the five, including their memories. However, the Womb malfunctions printing Lewis' body, apparently creating a monster. The others decide to euthanize Lewis and to print another, but Lewis escapes. Nina manages to print another Lewis, anyway. Meanwhile, misprint-Lewis is still quite human. The crew deduces that at least one of them is a saboteur who intends to destroy the mission. Misprint-Lewis and Mack discover that it is Patty, who has used an additional, small Womb in her research lab to print a copy of herself. Ultimately, only Nina survives and lives out her life completing the mission alone.
In the era of human technology advanced, humans are searching for a new planet to survive. A crew of five people are assigned to conduct the operation to make planet X10 inhabitable. Their knowledge and memories are transformed into a 3D print body to accomplish the mission in the space. One of the member, Lewis, is misprinted in an accident. Subsequently, betrayal, conspiracy, and crew members' hardship are unveiled.
