Geneon Entertainment USA needed to sell an estimated 30,000 units in order to break-even on the title when at the time no Go Nagai title ever did particularly well in the North American anime market.

The North American DVD releases from Geneon Entertainment USA used censored masters as opposed to the uncut ones. The uncut version wouldn't be made available until the Discotek Media DVD release in 2016.
