Welcome to the Ballroom Manga Continues its Hiatus

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda

The May issue of Kodansha's Monthly Shonen Magazine revealed on Friday that Tomo Takeuchi's Welcome to the Ballroom manga is still on hiatus due to the author's health issues. The magazine noted that it will make an announcement once Takeuchi has recovered and started preparing the new chapter.

The manga's two-month hiatus started in December, and it did not appear in the February and March issues. The manga's chapter that debuted last October had fewer pages due to Takeuchi's health.

The manga was originally slated to return in March with the magazine's April issue, but April issue noted that Takeuchi's health deteriorated while drawing the new chapter, and she could not make it in time for the magazine issue. The issue further noted at the time that Takeuchi was aiming to resume the manga in April.

Takeuchi began the series in Monthly Shonen Magazine in 2011, and Kodansha published the ninth compiled volume last June. Kodansha Comics published the manga's ninth volume in North America on January 30. The series has been nominated for Manga Taisho awards, and was ranked on Comic Natalie's and the Kono Manga ga Sugoi! guidebook's lists of best manga in 2013.

Production I.G's television anime adaptation of the manga premiered last July, and ended in December with 24 episodes. The series streamed on Amazon's now-defunct Anime Strike channel as it aired in Japan.
