Sunrise's official Gundam portal site announced on Friday that Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin III Dawn of Rebellion (Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin III Akatsuki no Hōki), the Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin anime project's third episode, will open in Japan on May 21. The advance sales and streaming of the episode will also begin on the same date. As with previous episodes, the episode will open in 15 theaters in Japan for two weeks.

The collector's edition Blu-ray Disc of the episode will cost 10,000 yen (about US$84) and will include: a special illustration by Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, storyboards, the setting material collection, and illustration sheets. In addition, members of the Bandai Visual Club who pre-order the Blu-ray Disc, and those who pre-order the Blu-ray Disc from the Premium Bandai store, will receive a film frame from the episode. Pre-orders will begin on April 18. The standard DVD and Blu-ray Disc release will ship in Japan on June 10.

The portal site previously streamed the first promotional video in November for the episode with both English subtitles and the English dub.

The episode will follow the youth who would become known as Char Aznable and his future comrade Garma Zabi after they join the Zeons' military academy.

The second episode, "Artesia's Sorrow," opened in Japan in October, and it ran in 15 theaters in Japan for two weeks.
