    Clues:

Clue #1: It's based on a PC game.

Clue #2: Summer '83, it wasn't quite summer of '69, but for some, it was still the most memorable summer of their short lives.

Clue #3: It didn't make the Top 10 but it did make the top 100.

Clue #4: A character voiced by a voice actor, kills another character also voiced by the same voice actor.

    Clue #5: 26 Episodes

    Clue #7:

    Clue #9: Japanese Title: _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _   _ _   _ _ _ _   _ _ _ _ _ _

Clue #10: You really haven't figured it out yet? That makes me want to cry. I'm sure the cicadas are crying too.

    Answers: Spoiler Warning!

Clue #1: Higurashi no Naku Koro ni is based on a self-published PC game of the same name.

Clue #2: Higurashi no Naku Koro ni takes place during the summer of 1983. Several young characters die.

Clue #3: Japan's Favorite TV Anime

Clue #4: Shion kills Mion, both are voiced by Satsuki Yukino

Clue #5: Higurashi ran for 26 episodes, starting in April 2006.

    Clue #6: When They Cry

Clue #7: It's a picture of a Cicada, the literal translation of the Japanese title is "The Moment the Cicadas Cry."

Clue #9: Higurashi no Naku Koroni. It is sometimes spelled "Higurashi no Naku Koro ni," but we were informed that the official spelling had no space between Koro and ni.

Clue #10: Palying with the title, the url for this clue was also rather blunt, "/contest/2007-03-05/guess-the-geneon-license-2/whentheycry."

Wait, where's clue #8? Clue #8 really did exist, but it was a hidden clue. Since no one found it (that we know of), we've decided not to expose it, and use it again in a future contest. Once found, the clue was relatively benign, this is what it said, "There's a video game, we told you that already. There's also several manga, drama CDs and even a light novel."

    Thanks for playing!
