That is cool. That may mean it is licensed to someone because it will have Subtitles. I wouldn't think that they would use a Fansub for a film at a film festival. I could be wrong though.

The subtitled version seems to be for film festivals. There is no indication on the screener they gave me yesterday or the promotional literature to indicate anyone has licensed it for the US.
It's quite a fun film and I'm looking forward to seeing it on the big screen Sunday. Hope some folks who heard about this here make it. BTW the guy in the car Honey lands on in one of the fight sequences is Nagai Go. Gilles - Jazzed to finally see this film - Poitras |

Well, its a Warner Bros. film, but they've made no indication of any plans to release it in North America...
The subsitles were, as Gilles stated, made for film festivals and what not. They were actually made before the film even screened in Jaapan (We posted this review before the Japanese release.) -t |

I think my intro went OK. I tried to cover all the major points the Japanese audience would be familiar with such as the manga, TV series, that Honey has a pure heart etc.
I have been fighting off resperatory trouble from the downside of a cold and allergic reactions to some building demolition near work so I was not in the best shape. The audience enjoyed the movie with lots of great reaction. When the openning credits animation sequence kicked in they really got into it. Now this was not your anime con type audience, odds are more of these people had only seen a few anime titles. These were serious cinema fans, the kind that go to film festivals. Was anyone from here there? I was not able to stick around after the show as I needed to get downtown to catch the last F bus back to Oakland. |
