Reason Space Dandy's timeslot takes a break because they want to run it schedule-time-wise until it reaches the last episode of the 1st season right before 2nd season premiers in July? If you look at the schedule, the final episode of 1st season should be on the first Saturday of July, if there's no more breaks during its run after Cooler's Revenge.

You mean aside from the fact that most modern shonen anime have drawn heavily from various aspects of the show? Or that it helped make lots of people aware of anime who otherwise wouldn't have been since anime on American television was all but unheard of at the time? The show has plenty of flaws, but its impact is undeniable.

People yelling and fighting appeals to your inner 12 year old/id. Sure it's been big for popularization in the west, but it's a really dumb series at heart.

It is, but that's one of it's strengths in a way too. It's not some high-minded romp like a lot of series are (and I'm not saying this against those series mind you), it's simply a fun-filled adventure that's easy to digest, and if that's your sort of thing, then it's a story that you'll probably enjoy. Myself and tons of other fans can attest to that at any rate.

It knows what it is and doesn't try to be anything more than that. It's also very good at what it does, especially at setting up villains. And I enjoy it's goofy sense of humor.
_____
It's times like these I'm sad I can't get Toonami in New Zealand.
