Also, I'm curious about how many gaijins are directly working for the anime, manga or LN industries. Maybe ANN should make a feature about that. Thomas Romain and JD Bahi are the more popular gaijins working for the anime industry afaik.

I might give the LN a try. The PV did catch my interest though.

Last paragraph. In my 5 years of being an ANN forum user and 10 years ANN reader I honestly don't recall any other people besides the ones listed.

I googled it and found his real name is Tiago Furukawa Lucas so he's a brazilian and it's nice to know that because I'm from his country and his light novel got a anime adaptation...

That light novel cover was creepy as hell.

But I am at least happy that for once, anime might depict a healthy relationship between siblings of opposite sex.

Otherwise, I am looking forward to this, the same animation studio of BakaTest and the concept seems to have potential for lots of comedy.

Actually BakaTest is Silver Link. This is Madhouse.

Reminds us of The Last Starfighter: Laughing

  • Alex Rogan (Lance Guest) is a teenager living in a trailer park with his mother (Barbara Bosson) and little brother, Louis Rogan (Chris Hebert). While working as the park's handyman and dreaming of going to college to escape the dead end life of the trailer park, Alex's sole leisure activity is playing Starfighter, an arcade game where the player defends "the Frontier" from "Xur and the Ko-Dan Armada" in a space battle. Eventually he becomes the game's highest-scoring player. A short time later, he is approached by the game's inventor, Centauri (Robert Preston) who invites him to take a ride. Alex does so, discovering the car is actually a spaceship. It turns out Centauri is a disguised alien who takes him to the faraway planet Rylos.

There's also Justin Leach:

  • Japan: A View From Inside Production I.G

Justin Leach left the U.S. to experience animation production in Japan first hand. Taking a position at one of Japan's hottest studios he compares and contrasts two similar but very different worlds.

And if ya wanna go farther back, there was Jan-Scott Frazier:

  • Hello EX readers and welcome to my first column. I'm (usually) Scott Frazier and amongst many other things I am the President of Production I.G. (USA), Far East Representative of Cambridge Animation Systems (the Animo people), and a director/producer/digital manga creator. (Not necessarily in that order.) (If you saw me during the course of a day you would not see any order anywhere!) Yes, I produce and direct real Japanese animation. If you want to learn more (uh huh) you can read my interview or look at my homepage.

It looks like Mondaji 2.0 was my first guess, but I laughed out loud when I saw the characters.

It's the reincarnation of the two main characters of Sakura-sou. They look the same, they have the same VAs, and they are named Sora and Shiro instead of Sorata and Mashiro.

I am definitely going to be watching this series.

Funny, I thought I recognized some of the BakaTest animation style in the promotion video.

Sorry, but this made me laugh. Shiro and Sora's relationship isn't healthy at all. Leaving aside the R18 doujin the author himself has drawn, their levels of mutual dependence and attachment are far beyond what you'd consider normal. spoiler[And they're not blood-related. You know what that means.] I don't know if this story will ever go down the romance route, but seeing how the author is a confessed lolicon AND a siscon, I can only see Shiro as the main heroine.

Also guys, I know that Kamiya is Brazilian, but he's lived in Japan since he was... Six? He went to school there, worked there his entire life and is married to a Japanese woman. It's still something, but definitely not the same as someone who goes to Japan when they're an adult.
