Review is pretty spot on, I really enjoyed this manga and I'm extremely glad Seven Seas finally picked it up.

My problem with the end was that I felt the epilogue was too short. I wanted to see more of their adult life. Of course, if my only problem is that I wanted to see more, it probably did a pretty good job.
So sad this will likely never get an anime. |

Nice review, very comprehensive. Girl Friends is quite light and friendly but it has the depth to lend credibility to its story. Rather than an insubstantial, wispy love story, it's a legitimate one presented in a nice, enjoyable way.
Seven Seas did a really nice job with this manga. The choice to preserve honorifics was a no-brainer, but they might have even gone a bit too Japanese. "Itadakimasu" is arguable, but "kanpai", "Obaachan", and "O-sama"? |

I think I heard somewhere before reading this that it should've had more to the ending, but I kinda lean toward disagreement. spoiler[The two girls agree that they will work hard on their relationship and come out to their friends at the right time, while acknowledging to each other and themselves that there's no knowing what the future will bring, and that their current happiness doesn't necessarily guarantee they'll remain permanent soulmates, but they'll still work for it if they can.] That's a level of realism I don't find in too many young romances like this that end in similar places in the story, be it hetero or same-sex. This was truly a charming Yuri title.

I keep seeing this series in the bookstore and thinking "I should read that at some point; I hear it's pretty good" and then forgetting about it xD Clearly I should get on it. Haven't read much (any) yuri, but this seems like a really good place to start.

I wonder if the Japanese publishers will take note of the relative popularity and high praise this title got here in the West. Supposedly, it wasn't as popular in Japan.
