It's only a day late, but I'm glad it's up.

So Zac, I will anyone be bothering to do a preview of Recorder and Randsell? I understand there isn't much to talk about given its 3-minute nature, but I believe you did previews of Chi's Sweet Home, which is the same.

We would've launched yesterday, but none of us knew Recorder & Randsell was only a 3-minute show (hardly enough to write about let alone launch with) and as it happens, nobody on staff has seen enough Prince of Tennis to feel like they can judge the new season accurately, so we waited for Knight in the Area, the first legit real new show. Anyway, back to the salt mines.

There's another 3-minute show premiering on Saturday, the writers have been instructed to turn in reviews of both as one preview when that happens.

Yay! My favorite time at this site rolls around again!

It's interesting re: Baby Please Kill Me that everyone agrees it might be better if it was the 3 minutes-an-episode series this season. It'll be interesting to see what Recorder and Randsell (the latter is incidentally a Japanese term for "backpack," don't know why Crunchyroll didn't actually translate it that way) is like as a 3-minuter.

I too didn't know that Recorder & Randsell was three minutes long. I thought the ending song was the opening song (and everything before it had been a cold open), so imagine my surprise when the episode ended immediately after the song. For a brief moment there I thought someone had effed up the encode on the episode, or something.

Baby, Please Kill Me should have been shorter. Half-episodes would have been a better way to go about it. Of course, then we wouldn't have seen the ninja girl till episode two. I actually didn't like her, her voice was irritating as heck.

i think this was the case for just about everyone who decided to watch it, i for one was really disappointed thats all it was cause on paper it sounded like a good series

As for the previews, i've only seen Amagami SS+ and am still waiting for High School DxD right now
i agree with Theron's assessment of it though, none of the 1st series arcs had any conflict and its certainly welcome to start the new series, and i like the choice to make continuations of the existing arcs, i really hate it when series end with a couple getting together, cause thats only ever the beginning, so much story can be had after that point but some series just don't utilise that

also it'll be nice for Rihoko to get an ending that is pleasing, the whole just friends thing would be fine with me for any other arc except hers, it was probably my only major gripe about the first season

its nice to see knight in the area get good rankings. i really enjoyed it and it looks like it will get better as it goes which is a big plus. the animation was a bit stale but since its most likely going to be a long runner it should be expected. besides knight in the area i saw the new prince of tennis and recorder. tennis was much better then what it could of been since it did expand on the manga and make it more enjoyable. recorder was a cute and funny title so it should replace moritas place. i haven't seen kill me baby yet but i do plan too tomorrow.

Truth be told, even though I am not interested in any of the shows yet (although the soccer anime looked the best, the chibi anime the worst it seems).

Zac's reviews are the highlight of the preview guide and no matter what, it will be an interesting guide.

First of all, love the promo picture.
Second, I'm getting a page not found error when I click on Bamboo's link
Thirdly, I've watched Kill Me Baby and I agree with Rebecca Silverman. A lot was false expectations. I was hoping for either a FMP Fumoffu style comedy or sort of a 'Venture Bros' Brock character as a schoolgirl, but instead it was rather boring moeblob, with horrible pacing. How much time on that show was dead air? 2-3 minutes? The jokes where no different than any other moeblob comedy out there, and I was very disappoint. Plus the OP was terrible. Might me the worst I've ever hear, and that is not hyperbole, it's that bad.

As as for Knight, it's the same story as any other sports anime -- if I wanted to watch sports, I'll go to espn (or other, legal in Spain, websites).

Baby, Please Kill Me should be 3mins. I think i'm done with it.
And Recorder & Randsell is much funny than Baby, Please Kill Me.

Knight in the Area and Amagami are good.

Same. Confused

New Prince of Tennis- I've only seen the first episode of the original yet I found the sequel quite exhilarating and have been understanding the it thus far. It does a good job of reintroducing the cast (although that's basically all that happens in the first episode (it is a rather large cast though))

The Knight in the Area- has interesting characters and it looks like things are going to get darker. I think I'l be following this one.

Recorder and Randsell- I didn't laugh once and even K-ON! was able to bring out the occasional giggle out of me, I think I'll be dropping this one... I really need to learn my lesson and avoid these types of shows altogether

Natsume Yujinchou Shi- if the first episode is any indicator, this season should be as excellent as the previous

And so it begins Smile Though at this point it's easy to guess how the reviewers will feel about certain shows based on concepts alone. Laughing

I was wondering who'd bring out the obvious "Kill me baby" joke.

So far I've seen

Rinne no Lagrange: An energetic young girl fights aliens in a giant robot. Awesome. Especially love her complete lack of angst and willingness to hop into the cockpit without so much as a complaint. People tied of the usual emo protagonist should check it out.

Recorder: Didn't know it was 3 minutes either, but oh well. I was particularly happy to see the cameo by Hana and Mayu at the very beginning Very Happy What I saw was funny but it would have been nice if longer.

Kill me Baby: I can agree this would be better as shorter episodes. Still, I'm a fan of the manga and I enjoyed the first episode of the anime just as much.

Symphogear: Pretty cool stuff so far. Throws some twists and misdirection at you right away, though it felt a tad rushed. Still, hot chicks in power armor kicking monster butt while singing? Sure, I'm game for that!

... Is it time for Aquarion yet? Laughing

It could be that the recent spate of wimpy protagonists might've clouded my vision because I couldn't really welcome Knight in the Area with open arms.

Opening an episode with a brooding protagonist in a sports anime is actually quite unexpected but it wasn't all that bad either. As long as Kakeru doesn't suffer from the obvious inferiority complex from being constantly compared to his talented brother, I don't mind giving this a try.

The character designs in the New Prince of Tennis . . . they've been given an unnecessary facelift. They look the same but they're more bishounen-ified. This looks like a shonen anime aimed at shoujo.

It doesn't seem like much time has passed since the last movie and the first episode already introduces pretty much all the players from the original series.

Still, the first episode reminds me of how ridiculous this series was yet equally addictive.

Kill me Baby wasn't bad but the opening was indeed grating and the show is mildly funny. But unless it can define its individuality and set itself apart from Lucky Star or Hidamari Sketch, I don't see much in its future.

Some gags were funny but it was probably because I was half-sleepy. I'm gonna give this a chance before I decide its fate.

Can't wait for the AAA titles to come out.

are there any shows you are planing on not covering like prince of tennis 2 because I know in the past some shows have been skipped.
Recorder & Randsell was hilarious even my mom thought so. though you need to know the concept before watching it otherwise it seems like the boy is retarded.

Hmmm, Theron came closest when describing what Knight in the Area was like. Although it's actually Touch, not Cross Game that it is cloning.
