I always wanted to read about the stories of the Witches of Africa like Hanna-Justina Marseille.

So it looks like "Strike Witches" is heading for North Africa. I wouldn't be surprised if soon, there were a "Strike Witches:Witches of America" coming up. Since we have aliens invading Earth, wouldn't the United States have something like that? Just something to consider.

Awesome. I guess now it's moved from semi-official to official-official. I wonder if this means Nogami will have more time to work on the series? I also really like Jane Godfrey, so I'm glad to see some focus on her.

Another thing that made the books "semi-official" was that Shimade Fumikane, original creator of the concept, contributed some illustrations. And the "Witches of Africa" stuff was a concept they wanted to include as a DVD extra, per this blog post.

You can always import the books, since they have a bilingual English translation. I collected all the store links for them here, to make it less confusing: http://lthemachine.wordpress.com/2011/11/03/importing-nogami-takeshis-bilingual-doujinshi/

And yeah, Marseille is totally awesome.

Nice to see the best Strike Witches property get more publicity. Kind of shame that the English translation will probably be removed like it was in the not-doujinshi re-release of A Century of the Ocean.

Not listed on that site, but Nogami's another long running doujinshi series A Century of the Ocean also has an English translation included and is easily purchasable at Amazon.jp.
Here's the links to the tankoubon releases:

Yeah, that's the downside of going official: losing creative control. It also amuses me how all the CR Comics tankobon covers have to have bishoujo on the cover, while for the doujinshi summaries he's free to put awesome grizzly old men on the cover.

Thanks, I ought to add that. It sucks how neither site has a complete run of volumes 1-11. I can't find vol. 10, the first volume after the 3rd compilation, anywhere on Amazon.
