I gotta say. I was quite impressed that the seiyuu actually performed (as in, played their instruments; pretty sure they were lip-synching) for two songs. You can tell they put in a lot of effort to do so and were so happy after they finished playing those two songs.

i havnt seen it but if they did actually perform that's pretty cool. I still look down at lip syncing tho. especially if there was season 2 songs...since there's a lot more edited vocals in those

Nah, this concert was where they announced the second season, so no season 2 material.

If I remember right, the two songs that they actually performed were Fuwa Fuwa Time and My Love is a Stapler. I saw them on Youtube a few days ago, so maybe with a little digging you can find them.

And I can cut them some slack with the lip-synching for those two songs. It's hard enough to learn how to play your instrument in a year (particularly for Mio's seiyuu who had to learn lefty bass when she's right-handed), but playing and singing at the same time is really really hard, since you can't put all your concentration on the instrument.

In regards to the songs the voice actors actually performed, I don't think they were lip-synching. Specifically in Watashi no Koi wa Hocchikisu Mio's actress holds a note for too long and rushes to make up for it and Yui's makes a minor mistake in the lyrics at the end. I'm not critisizing them for it, just saying that those little mistakes wouldn't have been left in if the vocals were prerecorded.

I was very impressed with the performances in question. They weren't professional quality but they were certainly listenable which is amazing enough. Actually, I could argue that they were on par with a high school rock band, and the mistakes contributed to the authenticity. Laughing

Awww... when are they going to release the full cheerleader routine from Lucky Star (as if it really exists)? K-On seems okay, but geez.... give us our candy already.

Oh, and moe-haters, this news certainly isn't good to read, is it? Yep. Another #1 hit. Boy, you're going to be watching this stuff for a long, long time.
Yes!

So, if I'm following you correctly, you want to see the seiyuu from Lucky Star dressed as cheerleaders and doing the full dance as shown in the last episode? That would be pretty nifty.

Lip synching has been a part of concert performing since the technology existed.

Damn licensing and taking the vids off youtube...

Anyways, the only thing holding me back here is the Blu-Ray disc itself and the Blu-Ray player. After all that, it's time...

Kinda like the dub singing the Xmas song on Ranma 1/2 - they sing like corny teenagers too. Laughing

They probably re-record another imperfect version and lip sync to that or they might lipsync to parts of the song, it's pretty common with idols who can't really sing (the members of Buono! sing live with their solo lines and lipsync to the chorus). They're already playing their own instrument, lip sycing isn't a big deal. They did sang with the other songs where they didn't need to play. They're seiyuus, not musicians.

Or they might just have autotuned the live vocals (too much). Have you heard Horie Yui without her autotuning on MusicJapan?

I've seen quite a few seiyuu concerts, practically all them sucked in the music department (maybe with each concert there's one or two seiyuu(s) that can do a good job). But yes, I think they did really well as seiyuus. It's pretty hard to find a seiyuu who can sing, let alone playing an instrument.

Why I am NOT surprised that all of them are really pretty?

Wish granted! Very Happy

BTW the DVD at least if not the BD of the Lucky Star in Budokan Concert from Spring 2009 was released some months ago. R2 and all-region players only, of course. (Darn.)

Double darn. That would explain why I can't find the awesomeness of seeing/hearing Ho-kago Tea Time perform IRL...
