Ahhh, yes! Someone else finally discovered the sheer awesomeness of Kurogane Pukapuka Tai! The commander Kuki got herself a nice variety of girls in her harem despite the fact she's oblivious of having one (it doesn't stop the other girls though especially her XO Mamiya)
Too bad the magazine this is serialized on is quarterly which means a new volume won't come out in at least a year.

THIS. And Jacob is a werewolf, I mean, he can't be an Animagus, right? I read the second volume of Millennium Snow and I literally got a headache as I struggled to get through the amateurish way that MS was written. I thought the first volume was okay. But I do love Ouran. |

Kurogane Pukapuka Tai sounds like something I would enjoy. For the fans of girls + guns + ships + WWII I recommend Soukai no Seiki and Soukai no Oujotachi if you don't mind few male characters and a plot. Soukai no Seiki is a great doujinshi with an English translation next to Japanese text. Soukai no Oujotachi is an eroge set in U-Boat with some gameplay elements.

ÔOKU is too much like A Brother's Price for my liking. I know the latter is a book, but it already covered the "disease-makes-males-rare-so-woman-have-to-run-the-country" angle. Having the Manga set in feudal Japan rather than feudal pseudo-Britain doesn't really do enough to differentiate it, and the concubines idea seems to be a decided step backwards in terms of storytelling.
Eh, I wasn't going to read ÔOKU anyway, but it still should have strived for a bit more originality. |

Woah, what's with the sudden outburst of Hetalia bashing? As a big fan of the show, the phrase "Hetalia can go straight to hell" kind of feels like a slap in the face.

It's worth pointing out that the very popular Anita Blake series, which contains a three-way relationship between the title character, a vampire, and a werewolf, started in 1993, long before either Twilight or Millennium Snow.

Have you actually read Ôoku, or are you just basing your opinion on the description and on Ms. Brienza's obnoxiously fangirl-ish review? I've been looking forward tremendously to this ever since I read the first volume in raw form online. So far it seems very smart and well-written, so give it a try if you haven't actually read it. |

Must I say it? Am I the only one here who thinks this? Doesn't anyone else thing of Naoto Shirogane when they see the front cover character of Kurogane Pukapuka Tai. Naoto Shirogane from Persona 4 looks just like the guy.
I'm not saying their character designs were stolen, I'm just saying that they look super similar. |

Ah, DOGS.
I love the crazy dynamic action but some things kind of turned me off later on spoiler[like the twins] which I only believed were there for the crazy-ass cute factor :[ And I've been itching to read Millenium Snow for a while. I might check it out. |

Pfft, naval battles outside of Horatio Hornblower are boring. Bring on more Hetalia which doesn't just stick to battles, naval or ground.
All the reasons he gave for liking Kurogane, what with it being bishoujo packing, yuri-smacking, naval ships and all... he clearly doesn't get why Hetalia is so popular. I'll stick to Hetalia thank you very much, but I'll give this a glance. |

My friend was quite distraught when she found out that Millennium Snow was only two volumes long. I don't really understand why Viz would license a manga that is only two volumes long and ends on (what I understand to be) a cliffhanger, when there are plenty of other series, that are quite a ways in, or finished, that could have been picked up instead.
Snowflower - Regarding the Anita Blake series, doesn't that one eventually just turn into softcore Mary Sue porn? I'm mildly interested to read it (in a while...I'm vampired out right now) but have heard that the books go way, way downhill. At least Twilight was mercifully four books long...and ended on a much higher point than it started. |

I don't care what anyone says, Millenium Snow should not have left Japan, not just because it's two volumes long, but because there are far better, and longer manga for Viz to license.
I am under the impression that Anita Blake is/becomes a mary sue, and I have heard the books aren't that great. I hated Twilight, but at least it was only four books long, (of course I only read the first two, I couldn't stand it). If ya'll want real books with vampires, I highly recommend Dracula by Bram Stoker. Sorry to get off subject, but am I the only one who thinks Anita Blake might have been inspired by Buffy the Vampire Slayer? I haven't actually read the books, but from what I hear of it, there are similarities. |

Sorry for the late reply, which you might not even see. But here goes anyway.
I don't think it matters just which vampire/werewolf/woman thing came first. My favourite is the Charlaine Harris version which is significantly later than most. Anita Blake is worth reading, the first few books anyway, the sex starts to dominate around book 10 or so. I'm still keeping with it, addictions are hard to break after all. |
