It's being referred to as a tv anime now, so wouldn't it be wrong to keep calling it a "special episode"?

ANN really insists on calling it a special episode due to the initial misunderstanding even though it's been confirmed by now that it's a mini series.

The term used in Comic Natalie (source linked in the article) is: "スペシャルエピソード" (special episode) and the Twitter account refers to it as a "TV anime." Designating it as a "TV anime" doesn't necessarily mean it's multiple episodes, just that it will be broadcast on TV, and there's been no announcement with an episode count yet to confirm that "special episode" means more than a single episode.
