Whew! When I first saw the headline, I immediately drew a negative conclusion. Thankfully, after reading the article, it seems to be a positive thing. Yeah, focusing on next-gen media & streamlining(aka: trimming the fat) their operations definitely is a good thing.

How is trimming the fat that good a thing? that means that people will be losing their jobs. Even talking about restructuring makes a Detroiter like myself shudder a bit.

Well, in regards to people losing their jobs; no it isn't good. I was thinking along the lines of what's good for the company. To keep the company running smoothly and keep them running, period. My instant gut-reaction to the headline was, "Uh-oh, Bandai is on the road to ruin". Therefore, after reading the article, my reaction was a happy one. I'm definitely not happy that people lost their jobs though.

I wonder what actually spawned this?

Usually in these types of restructuring/reshuffling situations, someone on the inside didn't like what was going on.

The old addage: If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I guess something was broke.

Whatever the reason, it has to do with money. It always does with corporations.
Restructuring is great in order to get more efficient, but efficiency has its costs.
Hopefully for the people employed there, they are going to be spending money to make more money.
