All I can say is I look forward to seeing what they will do. They're already on a good start by stating that they will include the Japanese versions.

I'll just add what I posted in another thread: I like the manga, but I'm not sure if the anime's going to catch on like .hack did. It's more for the traditional rpg fan(i.e. DQ, D+D, etc.), so you have to be a tad on the old-school side to appreciate it. That Beet knock-off, Buso Renkin, seems to be doing better here, which pisses me off.

Looking forward to this one. Fansubs were so hit and miss that I just lost interest (as did the fansub groups), I really need a consistent DVD run to enjoy this.

Wait, "Beet knock-off"? Could you please explain this to me?

Also, Buso Renkin wasn't even released yet over here, so how do you know its doing better? Besides, I would assume that Buso Renkin would do better simply because it's by Nobuhiro Watsuki.

Didn't know that. Kinda makes me more interested though, Couple of my long lost friends were serious D&Ders, so I know a little about it Wink Hell, would even join them on some of there beginner adventures. Of course D&D is only as good as the DM, so thankfully, we always had a good time.

I can't wait to see Beet the Vanel Buster bust some Vandels with his vandel-bustin' sword, the Vandel Buster.

With his attack, the Vandel-Bust?

Alternativly, what's a 'Vanel"?

The kid looks like Beet and has a weapon which is part of his body like Beet. Buso also rips off Bleach, cus it has some annoying girl following him around.

Because Viz said at the AX panel that early copies sold out at their booth, which obviously indicate a bigger demand for the series than Beet. It's sort of the way you knew Naruto was going to be bigger than One Piece, even if both anime were released uncut.

I'm sure it could initially sell better, but I'm not sure if it would last long. Although it seems people have taken to a liking to it, in spite of the preview in Jump.

Welcome to Planet GATSU, where if a series has anything at all in common with another series, regardless of its release date, it's a "ripoff".

It also depends which one Gatsu likes more. If he liked Buso Renkin more than Beet or Bleach, those series would be "ripping off" Buso Renkin rather than the other way around.

Um, Buso Renkin was published after Beet and Bleach in Japan...

You know, Astroboy also had an annoying girl that followed him around, so it's hardly a recent story-telling device. Bleach and Busou Renkin both include the twist that the girl is the one who gave the hero his powers, but Beet follows the far older and more generic childhood friend/reluctant romantic interest plot.

Also, the Beet franchise is based on the CCG, and the difference in source material has an effect on the story. Similar to Yugi-oh and Aquarian Age, Beet consists of a series of duels between hero and villain, consisting of power-ups and few actual surprise attacks. If you're at all familiar with the mechanics (as I understand it, it plays very similarly to Magi-Nation) you can picture the hands being played out.

It brings up an interesting question, though - is the card game coming over?

Anime hyper if you think about it, almost all recent anime have ripped off some sort of aspect from another anime. It's also the really popular or public series are noticed for doing this.

That's the idea, to put all their series on tv so they appeal to the masses. And they will be edited accordingly for broadcast. Which is perfectly okay. But I'm a little apprehensive about what the dvds will be like for any of the shows they've got. Sub only would be fine with me, but there was a very real and definate "but" in their statement about wanting to put the Japanese language track on their discs. I'm choosing to be caustiously optimistic, just because I don't want to be disappointed.
