Actually I'd prefer to see it in my own language, just as the Japanese get to. Rolling Eyes

I wouldn't. I'd rather watch something as it was meant to be watched rather than watching an alternated version. It's like if we were to watch something like Family Guy or South Park (both of which I haven't seen for years) in Japanese, it just wouldn't be as good because the original voice actors were picked for a reason.

That's why I would rather watch Ghibli films in Japanese. You have your reasons though.

For titles with dubs available, I would prefer to watch dubs. But at least subs is better than nothing and I supposed it would be a positive sign if ratings turned out to be good for Film4.

I'll avoid Ponyo due to the dub being on Xmas day myself, i'll try and catch a few of the others that I have yet to see.

Screening with dubs is probably necessary to introduce more viewers to anime. But then again, for Channel 4 to screen something that isn't a Ghibli filem would help that too, or peope still associate anime with animated movies. Rolling Eyes

What about Code Geass or Death Note or Elfen Lied or Le Chevalier d'Eon? These are hardly 'kids shows'. Or even Evangelion though its older, would be a good place to begin.

Maybe because there are being screened on Film 4, not more4 or anything else. They're being shown on a specialist film channel because they're from a famous, well respected foreign studio, who have produced enough material to justify a special programming block. The fact that those films happen to be animated, more specifically anime, is pretty much irrelevant.
