Does this mean Harmony Gold's license is almost up?

Not likely. I think it's telling though that they're releasing them as DYRL? toys rather than the TV series.
The 1/60 Yamatos came out a few years ago, before they did the 1/48 line. I missed the last Bandai re-release (around 2000, I think?), so I might get one of these just to have it. Depends on how much they want for them, I guess. |

We can only hope so, with this latest development. Stupid Harmony Gold. |

This year's 1/60 Yamato VF-1s are different from the older 1/60 Yamato VF-1s. The old 1/60 VF-1s still had lots of die-cast, but their paint jobs were easy to scratch (like Takatoku 1/55 VF-1s) and still weren't accurate. The new 1/60 Yamato VF-1s will be basically scaled-down versions of the 1/48 Yamato VF-1: http://www.yamato-toys.com/dev/release_002/index.html |

Cool beans... The Valkyrie was the very first imported Japanese model kit that I ever built - I was blown away by it - it transforms! I still have it in a box.

I might have to pick up one of these.
But which one? |

Even though I am not a fan of this series, I relish the fact that even though this series came out in 1980's, people are still enjoying this series.
I am glad that of some of the anime made before the internet age is still popular, this gives older series such as Dr. Slump and other older series a chance of making returns in 22th century. |

I originally owned the Jet fire Transformer figure back in 1985.
Wish it was in better condition, over the years if got ruined. Glad to know that they are gonna release the mold of the original Valkyries by Bandai. |

Those look really cool. I might get one of those. I'm not a fan of the series I only know of it from an old NES game I have.

I hope that this move is a small precursor to something larger this summer. I won't get my hopes up, but I'm gaining optimism. Hopefully, what small hopes I have will be realized before the end of August.

Just to clarify from the article: Toycom is Toynami's predecessor in the sense that the former Toycom VP, George Sohn, left to found Toynami and instantly began working towards Robotech products which wouldn't be blocked the way Toycom's Macross toys were. (Source)
The line "Yamato Toys, the former Japanese partner of Toycom" isn't correct. Toycom would later change it's name to Yamato USA, a wholly-owned division of Yamato Co., Ltd of Japan, not just a partner. (Source) That said, I'd love to get my hands on a couple of these. I have a G1 Jetfire and like a few of these to go with him. Emerje Last edited by Emerje on Tue May 06, 2008 5:56 pm; edited 2 times in total |

Bob, knowest thou something we knowest not?
Also: Does anyone know where they'll be sold? Will they be at Anime Expo? (if so, I guess I will be going to AX for at least a day...) |

Nice. I wonder what my old Alpha Fighter model is worth (It's one of the transforming ones. With pilot fog. I got it in the 80s, I think... I can't remember.)
