I thought the creativeness of the kekaishi powers was the best part of the show. It was that which kept me watching even though most of the other shonen tropes were there.

Yoshimori is definitely forced as a character that grows. He barely puts effort into actual strategic learning, but his power "increases" as the show goes on and the characters always comment on it to make it obvious. It's worse than when Naruto Shippuden started and all the characters commented on Naruto's strength and potential even though he was doing the same thing he did before.

I enjoyed Kekaishi, and if I were grading it I would give it a B-. It was generic, but not too generic due to the creative use of boxes as weapons. There were some great moments had with those things, but not all in this one set of episodes, so maybe a C+ is more apt.

The first half or slightly more of Kekkaishi anime is weak, so "C", equalling "mediocre", is the mark (I would give it a D, though).

The show, however, really improves in later episodes -- possibly to B level.

Well i liked it when during the AS run. and Having Gen is a plus, definitely have a cold heart. it's definitely a B at best, especially it's eng dub. Their definitely a good fit . EXCEPT FOR ONE!

Having David Lodge as Yoshimori's grandfather was a definitete miscast. Having Kenpachi's voice as an grumpy old man sounds so wrong on so many levels.

It would have been better if they have had the guy that did the 3rd hokage or the guy that did Danzo instead.

Can't agree at all here. I though the voice he used was exactly right; he just occasionally got a little stiff in his cadence when trying to lip-synch.
