I actually am interested in hearing from most of those guests (usually I don't make panels/autographs all that important because they're usually so crowded).

Wow. As of this morning, Anime Boston is sold out. No registrations will be taken at the door. So if you didn't preregister already, you can't get in. That's just amazing to me.

I think "castle passes" are still available, though. So, you can still go to the dealer's room and the art show

Ugh, a con starting at 11AM? That's pretty ridiculously early for a con, esp one in a massive college town.

Who knows, it is a tentative schedule. Maybe they'll bump the time back for the opening ceremonies.

Otakon starts programming at 9AM Fri-Sun. And for some people that's STILL not early enough. |

Yeah, but Otakon is in the summer. Students have no reason not to be at a con at 9AM. During the schoolyear though, they should really start cons later, considering a vast majority of con goers are still in school (whether high school and below, or college)

Where AB took place on Easter Weekend, many of the students in and around Boston had the day off, so they started early.
I remember last year they started showing anime at 7 a.m. Doors to events don't open until 10 a.m., however. It was an excellent con this year. The crowd problem of last year vanished with the move of the dealers room to the castle. Still had some rough spots at times, though. Anybody else get to go? I was one of the..how shall I say...more unfortunate of the Trivial Pursuit contestants (why...why did I move from the side of the board I was on?). I'll never look at Gundam the same way again. I don't think I'll ever listen to YMCA without ROFL again either. One thing that was bad was that they moved Artists Alley up to the fourth floor, not giving it a chance to receive foot traffic customers (many of the artists didn't do so well this year). The video game room rocked. 8 player Halo and 8 player Super Mario Kart were fantastic. The arcade DDR machine was never alone. The non-video game rooms were also great. And the AMV contest was very nice. I only wish that Trigun/Bohemian Raphsody could have got an award (at least an honerable mention). If you're wondering who won the best of show in the masquerade, it went to someone dressed as Vash from Trigun. He was picked because he took two types of leather (you could not tell the difference from looking at it) together to make it and it fit perfectly. I'm no cosplayer, but considering what he won, I just might try now. I should mention that, due to the overall Yaoi feel of the con after the showing of the YMCA AMV, there were calls for the con to look into some Yuri panels for next year. Next year it's in the Hynes, which means more space, bigger hallways, bigger rooms, and more people. Just don't get lost in the mall it's connected to (trust me, if you don't know where your going, you will get lost). |
