is it me, or did anyone else think that this series just ended well before its time. also, the way it ended left so many questions unanswered. who is smith? who's the girl that changed gamma? what the heck was up with the doctor at the end of the series? and do they ever revive the boys sister? if anyone has any info, please let me know

Never read ZP, but I hear Kubo stopped it so abruptly because the ratings were crap, much like Watsuki's Busou Renkin. Though ironically, they both seem to be pretty popular now after the fact. Strange world we live in.

Zombie Powder is probably popular because Tite Kubo got a LOT of fans and popularity with Bleach right afterwards, and Bleach fans wanted to see his other works. I've never read it myself, but according to wiki, the author's commentary in vol. 3 says that he was in a state of "severe emotional trauma", which might be the reason why he stopped making it.

I have the first volume of Zombie Powder and plan on reading it. I did hear about it not doing so well in Japan, but if you look up Zombie Powder in the manga encyclopedia, click on Trivia, it says it was a cult hit.

Odd. Like most other people, I've heard that the storyline is horrible and generic, but lots of people like it after the big Bleach hit. Jumping onto the bandwagon? The only reason I'd probably ever read it would be just to look at Kubo Tite's art style and compare it to Bleach's. |

I read Zombie Powder first, and I wasn't even interested in Bleach until I finished Zombie Powder and needed something to replace it. That was before either of them were even licensed.
Zombie Powder is pretty sweet, and back then I remember thinking if it had gone on it might have been better than Bleach. But I've come to love Bleach more than I ever did ZP. There's also that rumor that Kubo stopped doing it because of mental issues. I dunno. All in all, the series at least managed to provide some closure with the ending (well, the best it could've given the situation) It definitely would have been interesting to see where the story would have gone several volumes in. I always wonder if there are things that he didn't get to in ZP that's he's used in Bleach. In Bleach, there are some thing that seem to have roots in ZP: the use of the black butterfly imagery; Ichigo's Bankai attacks resemble Gamma's black flames; Soi Fon looks just like the doctor; Grimmjow has some similarities to Gamma, they both have a thing on their right cheek...and have the exact same pose in their respective volume covers, etc. |

Keigo and his sister also look exactly like Emilio and Wolfina.
I think the story was pretty good. Don't see why people thought it was so horrible. |

Yeah, I know. I read the first volume, and I am interested in reading the next three. I think the story is pretty good too. |
