I don't want to create a vs thread here, I just want to ask your opinion. I've watched Kanon 2006 but I'm thinking of watching Kanon 2002. Do you think it's alright to watch it? I mean, would that affect how I watch and my opinions about Kanon 2006? It's the original so I really think I should watch it but I'm having second thoughts since Kanon 2006 is a remake, so they have the same plotline. What do you think? Help pls.--

If you like the Kanon characters and story, then I'd say there's no reason not to watch the 2002 version. 2006 goes into a bit more detail on some characters, but all the key scenes are still in 2002. The main issues with 2002 are that the animation and character designs are a bit dated, especially compared to the sleek KyoAni goodness of 2006. Also, since 2002 was only 13+1 episodes, things may seem a little rushed. Then again, some have said that 2006 had too much filler and was too slow for its 24 episodes, the pacing may be a matter of opinion.

Well I saw the whole Kanon 2006 series... But when I saw some parts of the old Kanon I was realy suprised... I thought it was terrible... I think it might ruïn the new series a bit somehow... But that's my opinion... Since it's the same story there's no need watching it though... But it's you that has to decide if you want to see it or not... ^^

I think if you watch Kanon 2002 after watching 2006 (I watched the former first), you're really not going to be impressed.
I'm not even talking about the technical aspects. While I thought the soundtrack was sorely lacking (not that it makes a HUGE impact in such a show), I actually liked the lazy and "cutesy" feel in both the voice acting and animation that sets it apart from 2006 (which I even thought was a bit *too* crisp at times), of which the "cleaner" style of KyoAni couldn't have made it possible.
The problem with 2002 is that it became a complete train-wreck after the midway point. The girls' storylines were all rushed through like mad, key plot points weren't even explained, and there wasn't any breather room because they had to ensure that they pounded through as much of the plot as possible before the 1-2 episode arc of each girl ended. A large number of scenes were simply skipped, the pieces never quite fit, and none of the impact of the supposed impactful scenes were felt.
If you've never been exposed to the Kanon storyline you'd overlook it and still think Kanon 2002 was a pretty good series, but it pales in comparison to 2006 and the game. 2006's faults don't even hold a candle to 2002's latter half disaster.

I think the biggest problem for me was how the main character was portrayed. The remake version of yuiichi was a much better character.
