The ladies from I've Sound are my favourite group of artists, particularly Kotoko. She's my favourite out of the bunch. Very Happy

For me, it all began with Please Teacher!. I ended up really enjoying Kotoko's Shooting Star, though that was pretty much it for a while. Then a year and a half ago, Kotoko went to Anime North (in Toronto). I have to say, I went to the con for the sole purpose of seeing Kotoko perform in person. Now I plan on going to A-North every year.

The song she performed during her concert that I ended up really liking was Suppuration -Core-, which is an insert song used during Kannazuki no Miko. That concert solidified my decision that she was my favourite artist, and I immediately got around to listening to as many songs from her as I can. During this time, I was beginning to become aware of the fact that she was in fact part of a group of artists, called I've Sound.

A few months prior to this point (June 2006), the only members that were releasing any singles that ended up in anime (that I'm aware of, at least) were Kotoko, Mami Kawada, and Lia (at least I think she's a part of I've, somebody correct me if I'm wrong), who only did the OP for Air. It was only at that time that other I've Sound artists were coming out with songs being used for anime, such as Mell (Black Lagoon), Eiko Shimamiya (When They Cry/Higurashi no Naku Koroni) and Kaori Utatsuki (Tsuyokiss). I ended up finding out that they were from I've as well, and now, I try to keep a look out for any new song from an I've artist. While I don't like every song that Kotoko or the others release, I do like quite a few of them.

& that concludes my long post about I've. Razz

Your English isn't perfect, but I can still understand it. Just keep on practicing! Also, try not to just ask a question. List some of your favourite songs/artists as well.

Yes, and my favorites of I've that I have heard are in this order:

1. KOTOKO
My favorite songs she's done include "Face of Fact" (not the Resolution version of the anime), "Re-sublimity," "Second Flight," and "Trust You're Truth." After watching Triangle Heart, I fell in love with its theme songs, especially "Trust You're Truth." I like all of the Kannazuki no Miko themes, "Re-sublimity" being my favorite. It was also the first song of hers that I listened to. And "Second Flight" is just a catchy song to listen to. (I didn't even realize that Hiromi Satou was singing that song with her!) "Face of Fact" really blows me away. I can't stop listening to it. But I love pretty much all of KOTOKO's songs. She never ceases to amaze me!

2. Eiko Shimamiya
A fantastic and powerful singer. I'm more of a fan of the songs she hasn't done for anime, but I do like the Higurashi themes a lot.

3. MELL
Her songs that I've heard have this "edgy" feel to them. "Red Fraction" is my favorite anime theme she's done.

4. Mami Kawada
I like Mami Kawada's newer songs more than her older songs. The ones from Hayate no Gotoku! and Shakugan no Shana and its second season.

5. Kaori Utatsuki
She has a more "girly" sound than the rest, imo. I'm more of a fan of her slower songs.

6. Lia
Love the Air themes; "Tori no Uta" and "Aozora" are beautiful. She's the singer of "Ana," a recent insert theme for Clannad. I like the dreaminess of that song.

7. Ayana
After watching Kanon, I really started to like its OP theme, "Last Regrets." The ED is okay, too. For both Lia and Ayana, I've only heard their anime-related songs.

My overall favorite I've song is "Tenjou wo Kakeru Monotachi" by Love Planet Five (which includes KOTOKO, Mami Kawada, MELL, Eiko Shimamiya, and Kaori Utatsuki). It's the ED to the Shana movie. There's something about the chorus that really catches me....

I would also say that I've has a few of my favorite artists, but mainly KOTOKO. I always look forward to any anime themes they happen to do.

I didn't know Kotoko, Mell and Mami Kawada are part of a group until I saw this thread.

Anyway, my favorite has to be Mami Kawada. The other girls are all talented and have nice songs, but I like Mami Kawada the best. She's the one I remember the most.

My favorite songs are all from the soundtrack of Shakugan no Shana (the first and second seasons), especially Joint, which is the opening of SnSII. I also like Hishoku no Sora, the OP of the first season.

I also like Eiko Shimamiya's songs, particularly the ones from Higurashi. Those songs are just so dark and edgy.

It's not my number one favourite (that would be You Hitoto or Origa or Kanno Yoko), but I like the I've sound, and KOTOKO.

You may find the second OP ("Shichiten Hakki☆Shijō Shugi") to Hayate no gotoku worth your attention. The first OP ("Hayate no Gotoku!") was, honestly, not very good -- but the second is 100% vintage KOTOKO.

I've only heard KOTOKO and MELL and I really do like MELL. Especially "Red Fraction" from Black Lagoon. However, I can't say the same for KOTOKO. She isn't terrible by no means but she's often an afterthought for me among other J-Pop singers I enjoy listening to.

KOTOKO and Mami Kawada? What these two singers have in common is that they sang the theme songs for Shakugan no Shana. Personally I like all Shana OP/ED themes, including the ones for the second season. But I have to say my most facorite singer is Sakamoto Maaya. She sang many famous songs for famous anime like Cardcaptor Sakura, Tsubasa, Wolf's Rain, Ghost in the Shell, RahXephon, Vision of Escaflowne, etc. And many of her songs were composed by Yoko Kanno, also a quite well-known music composer.

I like I've Sound quite a bit too. I don't keep up with everything though and I've probably only heard a third of their songs, mostly the older ones. Although I haven't liked as many of their newer songs anyway, I'm sure there are some great ones I haven't heard yet.

I personally do not care about singers and KOTOKO, Mell, Eiko, Kaori, Aki, Asuka, Mami Kawada, whoever....most are fine with me. I generally like any female with a high-pitched voice, regardless of whether or not they have "singing talent" to sing on-key or over a wide range, etc.

What I really care about in music is the composer. I strongly prefer the I've Sound songs made by the original/main guy Kazuya Takase, over the ones made by his associates such as Tomoyuki Nakazawa. All the I've Sound composers do share a similar sound in a sense, they use similar instrumentation and style, but I strongly get the feeling that Takase was the "teacher" and Nakazawa was his "disciple", especially for the older songs. Takase's melodies are good and he can compose different styles of music. Most of Nakazawa's songs sound like they are copying Takase's style and instrumentation but lack a good melody, something which I think is more of an innate ability that is difficult to learn.

I also strongly prefer the I've Sound songs that are slower-paced and not as techno-ish, which are the minority by far.

So far my favorite I've Sound song by far is still "Imaginary Affair", the opening song to some random H-game. It's sung by KOTOKO, composed by Kazuya Takase, and one of those slower-paced non-techno songs. I also like "Went Away" the opening song to Hourglass of Summer, another H-game. Same description applies.

In regards to Nakazawa songs, probably the best song of his that I've heard is the ending song to Kannazuki no Miko.

I have to agree, I like Shichiten Hakki☆Shijō Shugi! more than Hayate no Gotoku! by quite a large margin.

I obviously love KOTOKO just like everyone else, and I also really like Eiko Shimamiya. She has this sound to her voice that flows like butter, and a really powerful voice that really fits well with the arrangements and backgrounds of her songs.

I really really don't like Mami Kawada though. Frankly she's abysmal live (plus makes ugly scrunched-up faces), and her voice only gets to where it is in the recordings because of heavy editing.
