I find it funny the anime only episodes of Naruto do better than the manga based ones.

I've never understood the hate for filler, myself.. its more enjoyable seeing a story you don't already know then one you do. |

I think that it's more a problem of the lack of thought that often goes into filler than anything else. I love to see more of my favorite characters, but I hate when the filler makes them act out of character. Since the manga artists are rarely consulted about the filler arcs, you can get some pretty far out stuff sometimes. |

Oh, I don't mind them, I just found it amusing is all, for the very bashing you mentioned. I liked the Fire Temple and Guren arcs, myself. Leaf History wasn't as good, but there were a few episodes out of it I loved (mainly the Neji, Ino, and Tenten ones)
Or you can go the Detective Conan route and the mangaka likes the 'filler' so much he makes it canon and stuff (quite a few Detective Conan characters started out as anime-only creations.. then the mangaka adopted them and fleshed them out more after he saw the anime) I also heard Kishi based a few ninja zombies in the current war arc in the manga off characters from the movies. |
