I know I've seen the series in bookstores before, but I can't remember which ones, so I don't know if it's available in English or in French. I'm planing on buying it in either case :D

I like the art. It's pretty. The story is so-so, not interesting enough for me to buy the tankoubon. But, I guess you have to take into account that I like shoujo better than shonen manga. I still read Black Cat whenever my little brother borrows Jump from his friends
I haven't heard of any Black Cat anime.

I don't know if it's available but I saw the art and story. It's pretty good. My friend worships it. You can alway get scanslations (if you don't believe if it's not moral or something...). I think I saw them somewhere.

Black Cat's manga was liscensed and I believe vol 6 or 7 just hit shelves a month or so ago. The anime is also liscenced with dvd 3 being released in the next month or so. I have heard good and bad things about both. I own the firest two dvds but forwent the manga even though it is said to be better.

I love love love Black Cat. It's ridiculiously entertaining even though it lacks originality (it's very similar to Cowboy Bebop). The character interactions are what make the series and it ends up being a lot of fun. Like geishageek said, both the manga and anime are licensed. The manga is released by Viz in their Shounen Jump line. Volume 7 (out of 20) will be released on March 13th. The anime is available from FUNimation. IMO, the manga is much better then the anime. It's only 23 episodes long (IIRC) so they left quite a few things out. It's still fun to watch, especially if you like the characters, but in the end it doesn't come close to the manga.

Of course they want you to buy their product and not download it illegally.

Yeah, I've actually got the same opinion of it as you do. It's one of those ones I read in the bookstore instead of actually buying it.
Anyways, since the Barnes & Noble I get all my manga from doesn't seem to have vol. 5 anywhere at all (it does have 6 and 7), I've only read up through vol. 4.

bought volume 6 on a whim for like $4, it was, really, super meh. I thoughth the first 2 volumes I read scanlated a while back were decent, but, yea, too generic to care for it really.
