Sony's decision is pretty odd to me. I get that they don't want to dampen any momentum the PS5 has in the US by raising the price. Under the circumstances, I also don't think it is realistic to think they would try to undercut Nintendo by lowering the price and eating even more of the cost. However, the idea of making up for it in less integral regions doesn't seem like it will balance. Clearly, they are ok with lower sales in those regions, but that would also mean fewer upcharged units to make up for losses in the US. Then again, this is the same company that was apparently fine with implementing a PSN requirement in places where there is no PSN support.

Huh, a new Princess Maker-style game? Interesting. I'd never even heard of Magical Princess before this. Hope it comes to the Switch in some way.

"The PS5 can't be 5 years old, let me check Wiki--well I'll be damned." Here I am still working on a bunch of PS4 games, and I still haven't seen much of a reason to upgrade.

There's really not much of one unless you're one of those people obsessed with graphics over everything. I got one for Spider-Man 2 and I've honestly been using it as more of a Netflix machine the past few years since then, rather than an actual game console.

Yeah, the only thing I can think of would be Spider-Man and maybe the Forbidden West expansion, and with Sony releasing so many first-party titles on PC now, and me in serious need of a new build anyway, that seems like the much wiser investment. (Not that I can afford said new build now, especially not with how insane I'm assuming prices will shortly be...)

Leave it to Sony to undermine Sega and Microsoft with their prices and DRM respectively, but then be left in a situation where they can't do the same with Nintendo. And lo and behold just today Nintendo announced there won't be a price raise for the console, but for the accessories. Not a good week for ol' Sony and Nintendo is still predicted to have a huge launch year with the Switch 2. Looks like those hoping for an adherence to "the pattern" (which is clearly made up as it doesn't match gaming history at all) are going to be disappointed.
Anyway, back to Xenoblade X now that I've finished the original story and am now in the post-game. It feels so good to have crafting material prices lowered as I have to grind for Weapon Attack Up and Potential Up augments plus it makes getting the Level 60 Skells easier

Yeah, I picked up a PS5 on sale (back when those still happened) basically expecting to use it for whatever the next Final Fantasy would be and as a way to work through the rest of my PS4 catalog, and honestly it’s pretty much been just that.
Also Petitie Princess Yucie slaps and is way better than it has any right to be.

I didn't comment on the previous thread about this mess so I guess I will throw my 2 cents in. Maybe I will leave a comment over there, but IDK.
I've been seeing so much discourse and posts surrounding the Switch 2's game prices(including the "drop the price" fiasco) and, for me at least, this is just another reminder of a much bigger problem than just the usual anger people have coupled with the phrase "Nintendo being Nintendo".
It's a problem we don't address, and don't do much to fix:
Things are getting more and more expensive, as time goes on and people don't have the spending power that they used to have. It's really just a sign of the times we're living in.
I think that's something people need to address more.
With all that being said, I still would very much want the Switch 2 with both Mario Kart, SF 6 and DK. I think I will get the bundle, very likely during the holiday season, if of course, they still have some left in stock, hopefully. If not, I guess I'll just get it separately, get both SF6 and DK next year.
Or I might just get it either on launch day or around the end of the summer, who knows.
We'll see what happens.
I usually don't buy systems on launch day, out of fear that several years from now, my console will suddenly croak and stop working altogether, something I learned when I got my Wii for Christmas in 2006.
This is one of those times where yeah, I don't like this whole situation, and yeah, I wish games where cheaper, but as the saying goes "It is what it is".

By "the pattern" you mean that saying that a succesful Nintendo console is always followed by a failure, though I also heard about the "third console curse" which I think references the Nintendo 64, PlayStation 3 and XBox One, I don't know if some people truly believe in these concepts, because I always assumed gamers are people that tend to be guided by logic, not superstitions, but I've seen a lot of speculation related to Nintendo announcement in which people always tried to find patterns in order to predict the announcement of a new Direct or new Smash Bros. reveal .Still, I believe that the initial negative reactions towards the Switch 2's reveal have calmed down a bit, altohugh that hasn't stopped some content creators that are trying to get clicks with tons of rage-bating videos. Though I still have some doubts, I think the Switch 2 will have a huge launch, and I'm more interested in seeing the amount of third-party games on the console, I believe that maybe the Switch 2 is going to have a somewhat great start in reagards to third-party ports due to the problems that Sony and Microsoft faced by launching their new consoles during the pandemic, there're a lot of games that were released on the PS4 alongside the PS5, I bet the Switch 2 will get a lot of those cross-generational games.

Quote: | As the joke goes, the PS5 "has no games." That's bullcrap, by the way—Sony has a wealth of older titles on their virtual storefront that are more than worth the price, like the Dark Cloud games or Valkyrie Profile. But Sony only seems to trot those games out as cameos for Astro Bot. |
I don't think old, easily emulated games are much of an incentive to buy a console. The selling point of a console comes down to the modern exclusives, which the PS5 does not seem to either have any or any that I'm interested in since I'm not interested in the cinematic shooter genre. Although I think even those got ported to Steam now

Did people dislike Chainsaw Man's director that much that he got stuck making Roblox games now? That seems like a really harsh punishment.

Not just Nintendo, but literally everything else, and yes they do truly believe this nonsense. It's complete BS if you've properly studied video game history because it fails right out of the gate with the NES to SNES which were both the market leaders not to even mention the handheld line which basically ate all its competition for breakfast and then some. It's typical trying to make logic out of what is actually chaos that nobody can predict. In the words of old Bill Goldman: "Nobody knows anything."

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that the entire Game Boy line was a complete success for Nintendo, and you could say that they found even greater success with the Nintendo DS following the GBA. And yes, it's true that the Super NES continued the success of the NES, though some would argue that Nintendo did have a great rival with the SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive, at least in North America and Europe, not so much in Japan where SEGA only found success with the Saturn.

I was jumping for joy in “This Week in Anime" hearing you finally beat Xenoblade 3! Congratulations! I haven't played the DLC sadly (that will be my Switch's swan song game). Fair warning about XCX, it is the longest and biggest game in the series by a long shot if you include all the side content. With 194 "Normal" missions and a world bigger than Breath of the Wild, Buckle up friend it's a chore sometimes.
There is a indie game called Volcano Princess and it's pretty much a Princess Maker game too. I need to play it some day along with adding Magical Princess to my wishlist.
