I also would like this series to get some love. It's both brutal and lighthearted, which is interesting. And I'm always up for anime making me question stuff. Maybe it didn't get as much attention due to its horrible dubtitles or because it started mid-season. Who knows. The animation and drawings are pretty good, the pacing is nice, the characters are lovable. And it gets better with each episode.

The dubtitles hurt it a bit but Crunchyroll did seem to get Ocean Productions to start subbing the signs and timing it a bit better. They are still not amazing but get the job done. I did notice that the score and the viewer count has risen over the last 2 months: https://anilist.co/anime/177697/Dead-Dead-Demons-Dededededestruction/stats |

Don't get me wrong, the dubtitle situation is embarrassing, but I think its role in the show's relative obscurity is over-stated. For that to be a problem, people first need to know this series exists. As far as I know, the dubtitle situation is exclusive to the English release. The French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish subtitles are seemingly all based off of the Japanese script. Is the show notably more popular in those markets? If the answer is "no" ...
The reality is that it was tossed out partway through the spring season with almost zero promotional support internationally. The TV cut was announced literally three days before it debuted. There's no weekly Japanese hype campaign to mooch off of either, because the TV version hasn't even launched there yet. If you look up their Twitter account, they've just been RTing merch for the movie cuts since the start of July. |

I've read goodnight punpun and fully expected to pick this up.
Couldn't tolerate the dubtitles. Dropped it since I figured I can grab the manga at some point instead. So theres at least one loss. |

I had read the (brilliant) manga before the tv anime version came out. I agree the dubtitle situation was a travesty but rationalized and subsequently enjoyed the early episodes as a kind of fan service for people like me who had already read the manga. With the dubtitle debacle more or less resolved in the most recent episodes, it's all golden. Thanks Lynzee and James for the excellent edition of the Aftershow focussing on Dededede! |

I'd been avoiding it because it was panned on release for having horrible dubtitles that would make it hard to follow. If the subbing situation has improved, might give it a try.

Not to be too critical, but this is at least the second Aftershow discussion thread recently that's one episode behind. The video embedded in the article is the show from two weeks ago. There was another episode yesterday (Wednesday).
