The type of kids whose parents have meltdowns over them reading "them weird gay cartoon books" are the kids who need a story like AssClass in their lives. It's not like it's a deep story, but it is about outcast kids finding hope and purpose despite society has declaring them worthless and stupid. Hopefully they can still find a way to read it without their parents knowing.

Going to play devil’s advocate here
For us anime fans that have read it or even watched the anime we know what it is about.
But if you just look at the first volume or just the premise it boils down to a bunch of students trying to assassinate their teacher.
So to just that i can see it getting banned from school’s libraries.

I mean I wasn't even referring to school shootings specifically, but while we're on the subject, these are the same people whose response to such things is usually "thoughts and prayers, now make sure my gun still has all of its rights." You'll excuse me if I think very little of them.

It’s still pretty damn stupid even when you factor the premise into it. Especially as the concept of students trying to sabotage or get rid of their teacher isn’t a new concept.
Not to mention to take a page out of Top Gun’s playbook. Considering that the kind of people who want this book ban are the same people who want teachers removed from the classroom for incredibly asinine/arbitrary reasons you’d think they’d be okay with the premise.

Some schools already do ban the Bible from classrooms. Anything can get banned if someone complains enough.

A lot of people don't read the books that are eventually banned. It's either a concentrated effort by a small organization to report books they seem as harmful based on themes,name, or sample excerpts out of context.
