Episode 1
It is not exactly, but the concept has kind of an element of gender flipped that I can find interesting. But it will probably be interesting to see the contrast of things worse compared to the normal series, which is having its second season releasing simultaneously. Good thing I don't smoke. Haven't tried since I tried copying someone as a child and stuck it in the wrong way. |

I was around the last episode of the Cells at Work when I realized the whole show was an inverted slasher movie with White Blood Cell as the hero/slasher. No matter what happens in the body, he was there to slice and dice his way to the next episode. So:
Cells at Work: Code Black episode 1 And we already have shades of a red blood cell zombie apocalypse so we're well past the stage where the heroes can cut their way to a conclusion. In my mind, this dark take has a lot more potential because there's only one way for things to go right but there's a million ways for things to go wrong. I haven't dedecided yet if I'll watch Cells at Work season 2 but I'm certainly here for this one. This show's not going to ask "How bad could it get?" but rather "How bad can a body get but still essentially function?" |

Man, they're starting off the series with the #1 killer in modern society? Omagaaaaad! I notice a conspicuous difference in the art style. The inky black streaks that Attack on Titan is famous for. Yeah, this show is giving me AoT vibe... and I like it. But like Animegomaniac, I'm not sure if I want to follow Cells at Work S2 (why are there two concurrent related shows this season?). Don't get me wrong; I like the first season. It was educational. But like all anime I watch, I'm not here for health education. I'm here for entertainment. Code Black is entertaining. Or maybe I enjoy seeing someone neglecting their own health for my amusement (out of sadism... or maybe irony?). Stress = drinking, obesity, smoking, having a stroke, diarrhea, getting sicker more frequently, insomnia, low sexual drive, substance use... ...make me look at my own body and wonder, man a healthy body is a boring body. |

Episode 3
Don't you dare make me feel guilty of masturbating! A boner episode is kind of funny in contrast to how innocent the main series is. |

Episode 2
Liver as Host Club where if you die, the Host eats you. No, that's not quite right, it's where red blood cells go to die so it's a Host club where they ultimately eat you. The ultimate fate of Red Blood Cell from the main series, that's quite the picture. Episode 3 So the cells know about Viagra but they don't know anything about condoms? No, that actually makes sense as Viagra is something that enters their worldview while condoms are strictly outside it. But they know about masturbation? Now that's baffling. Reminds me of a quote from the Tick Animated series, "I'm filled with tinier men!"... and they're judging me. |

Can you imagine if this show tackles diarrhea? Shit's gonna get messy. |

I don't understand how people can see episode three as an example of masturbation. You don't contract gonorrhea from masturbating.

Well, the episode was kind of making the whole thing seem bad if it was not for conception, even if masturbation was not the case it would be kind or relevant. It kind of felt like a part of that somewhat purposefully extreme example in calling for woman body autonomy by applying the same kind of standard people put on eggs onto sperm. |

Seemed to me it was more likely an encounter with a prostitute than anything else.

I don't know how that is relevant to what I said.

Episode 13(edited number) (finale)
Looks like the fear of dying after a heart attack, just managing to get working and avoid brain damage, was enough to get their body to start taking responsibility and looking after themselves. Seems kind of mean that they our principle cast seems to have then been drawn through a needle and forced into an even worse body. I guess that is a setup for consideration of a continuation. I enjoyed this Code Black spinoff, the different shape of the body did offer a different side to the original. We also got boners. The Platelets barely played a part though. The second season of the original series did feel in ways like it was spinning its wheels. Not sure what else I should talk about, my rating is Good (7/10), worth seeing, and I would say a bit more to offer over the second season of the original things, unless you were maybe a tad bit more attached to the characters over the biology lesson. Naive always lost Red Blood Cell from that series does have a bit of charm over the Code Black version, but he did have a surprising character arc. You confused me for a moment there, Dusky, but then I realized that you misnumbered the final episode. The last episode number should be 13, not 12.

Sexy White Blood Cell was sexy. Probably winner of the season for me. So yeah, this show was excellent.
