I might be able to get out to Anime Expo next year and I am looking for some info, tips, ect.
In comparison to Otakon, I know it's more people, but do they have more events? More dealers in the dealer's room? A bigger art show and artist alley? Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks! |

This is a few months old, but maybe this will still help you.
Anime Expo is a 4 day anime convention and Otakon is a 3 day convention, so AX has more events by default, just because they have more time. The dealer's room and artist alley feels more or less the same size as far as numbers goes, but Anime Expo always seems to put them in a slightly larger room, so the aisles are larger and thus the insane crowds are a little bit more manageable. Except for the 3 day vs 4 day factor, they are very, very similar conventions. The only thing AX has that Otakon doesn't is the charity auction, where they auction things donated by the guests, with proceeds going to charity. You can get some AMAZING things at the charity auction, some of them truly one of a kind that you simply cannot buy (like one of a kind drawings and so on), but be prepared to pay through the nose if you want anything in the auction. I'd suggest comparing guest lists and price factor in getting there. |
