Please tell me FUNi still dubs insert songs. I can't recall if they changed their stance on that.

I believe they still do, when it's sung by the characters, at least. I definitely remember they dubbed the insert songs sung by the characters in Cat Planet Cuties and Space Dandy, so there's that. But, from what I've heard (and I'm not 100% sure on this, myself), they didn't for the broadcast dub of Show by Rock!, probably either due to licencing issues and/or not having a clean M&E track to dub over in time for the B.Dub.

The most that they dubbed in Show By Rock!!! was Shingancrimsonz's intro. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=bP5YN-F57PA I was mad as hell when they didn't dub the rest of the songs.

They also had Bryn Apprill sing a little but of Cyan's song during the bathing scene in episode 2. Made me definitely want to hear more, or even a clean version without it placing the singing being the background.

You're right. Not much has changed. FUNimation still dubs insert songs whenever they can, which is something I really like. It's especially nice for home video releases since there's always the option of switching languages for when the songs don't turn out well or when one just wants to hear the original songs.
The most recent broadcast dub with a dubbed insert/ending song that I've seen is from The Rolling Girls, which is definitely worth a listen.
I've only seen the first episode of Show By Rock!! and liked what I heard, but I've decided to wait for the home video release for the rest of the episodes so that I can listen to them in lossless audio format. Also, you may or may not know this already, but Caitlin Glass did mention this on twitter.

Definitely looking forward to hearing it once the blurays release I know Funi usually dubs everything but with this, Sentai dubbing Hanayamata, NISA dubbing Love Live (Though thats been a money maker for NISA so I absolutely see why they are doing it as it'll only make it sell even more) I'm hoping this is a trend of companies giving a chance and dubbing more unexpected titles that in the past wouldn't have gotten one.
I love all anime and while I love the popular ones that do get dubs I also love the niche and less popular ones that are usually too risky to dub and any company who gives them a chance will instantly get my money and hopefully they sell well so even more niche stuff with get dubs Plenty of Dub fans love all kinds of things not just the mainstream or popular stuff so I hope others will buy and show that the market is here!

I wonder how a classical music-themed anime (as in Mozart or Beethoven) would fair translation wise. That is something that would be interesting to me.

I never liked show with 1 girl and 5 guys...they putted a Reversal, and for that...everyone's got to eat sometime. So long as it's being Dub, that tells me that Dubs are still a thing.
