Why do some people not like the last 4 or 5 episodes of Champloo? I remember hearing about people saying how they loved it up until the last 3 or 4 episodes, but i cant understand why. Is it because they were a little unrealistic? Was is the baseball or the zombies or the explosion? I thought the ending was really great and so where the last episodes. What do you guys think about this?
[EDIT: Don't feel like adding spoiler tags to every post, so I put a spoiler label on the title. -TK]

I liked it, too. None of the characters died, Shinichiro Watanabe broke the mold he crafted with BeBop so many years ago.
If anyone didn't like it, though, it was probably because of the zombie episode.

I don't know what you mean by "The zombie episode"? Can somebody explain?
I really enjoyed the baseball episode! I'm very happy with the ending, very thankful nobody died.

Oh.... I thought that looked like a filler episode, seems unecessary.
They cleverly mixed hip hop culture with traditional Samurai theme. Although I did not find this to be a "wow" series, it is thoroughly enjoyable. Very cleverly done.

That one episode pretty much killed whatever credibility that show had. I mean, the useage of hip-hop elements and whatnot was okay, and I liked how they used Edo Period-specific stuff to weave a good story (Van Gough allusions aside; not gonna dock them points for that one). Even the "Gaijin in Nihonbashi" felt "in place" because of.....look at a history book if you don't know already, geez.
But the baseball thing pretty much took the term "artistic license" and stretched it to the point where Hollywood would be proud of Watanabe. It was so out of place, and pretty much ruined whan should've been specific to the Edo Period.

I watched the zombie episode with my friend and we were confused at the end on why were zombies in the series, what was the point of that and what happened. That was probably the worst episode of the series.
We watched the baseball episode after that and laughed our butts off though.
