Stardust Crusaders in the top 3. Excellent choice. I'm not a fan of Mekaku City Actors yet though.

Haikyuu!! isn't in the list why? It doesn't have a twitter account? Or it has that little number of followers?

I'm wondering if it's because it only has a manga-related account? (https://twitter.com/haikyu_com) with 71k followers and so wasn't included? |

Yes, why is Haikyuu not listed?! They do indeed have an anime account at @animehaikyu_com with 66.7k. And then what about Mushi-shi @mushishi_anime with 15.2k Even though those rankings were based on numbers on April 9, these 2 still should have been listed up there. These are actually the only 2 spring animes I follow on Twitter/are watching and familiar with, but maybe there are more animes that are being left out. |

Does this mean anything? Does it affect sales?

It just means that the people that follow the twitter are potential active/buying fans of the given series. That means that Mekaku City as the most potential to have incredible DVD/BD sales, TV rankings and Merchandising. Just take that as an estimation of popularity. |

Alright a win for Mekakushi Dan! Honestly I'm not surprised given it's popularity before the anime glad the new fans are enjoying it.

Its only a sign of popularity. Its completely useless when it comes to predicting sales, only Amazon(/Stalker) can be used for that.
It means nothing, maybe its interesting to some people. But thats all. |

I'm surprised Ping Pong scored as well as it did.

It actually really means nothing. A LOT of people use twitter, sure but in the scope of things the amount of people that really USE twitter is small. Add on to the fact that no where near 100% of followers actually buy the product.... In the end it's really useless information other than to say "Im interested in this show, right now". I only follow shows that might have some interesting information to be revealed on the account, such as if it has an open ending. No reason to follow them otherwise All that said, I am sad to see a lot of really good shows not on here and a bunch of rather bland shows are pretty popular. nothing new i guess |

Love Live and Mekaku City Actors twitter accounts seem to be accounts for the whole projects themselves rather than just the anime (the account names respetively are @LoveLive_staff and @Mekakushidan) which means they predate almost all other shows twitter accounts airing this season by years. This actually makes Jojo's number the most telling to me as to popularity of the anime since it does seem to be strictly for the current anime season itself.
@Kougeru: Yeah nothing new whatsoever.
Who knows, the article is basically based on information lifted from a Gawker style (as in sensationalism before clear cut reporting) Japanese know as Yaraon which is pretty infamous for stirring the pot to generate traffic and hits....again much like Gawker media blogs like Kotaku. This is kind of what you get from articles on the Interest label though. |

I'm pretty familiar with the site since we reference it semi-regularly. I'm familiar with the interest section since I write for it (and wrote this article, too).
