IFC only plans to air the first 4 episodes of Basilisk this year? After waiting several months for this (and Gunslinger Girl) I can't help but be a bit disappointed about finding this out just one week before it airs.

Still, the fact that IFC is even showing anime at all more than makes up for this...delay (guess I'll just wait a few more months).

(It seems as though waiting has become my new pastime...even though that makes absolutely no sense).

True enough-- doesn't really fit their style. I mean, Basilisk is assuredly nothing "independent". For once though I'm not griping about a network being disloyal to their programming intent by airing something not of their ilk. The more anime is spread around, the more cred and attention it's going to get.

Plot Summary wrote:
The year is 1614 AD. Two warring ninja clans, each supporting a son of Hidetada Tokugawa as the next shogun, send ten representatives each to fight to the death for the possession of a scroll. The prize: the annihilation of the other and the staunch support of the Tokugawa government for the winning clan for the next thousand years.

This is how wars throughout history should have been fought, rather than sending entire armies and navies against the opponent. Just send 10 of each side's best warriors and have them all fight to the death with it written on a scroll that whichever side has someone left standing is declared the winner. Contemporary, conventional war is so detrimental to societies, the environment and economies.

Well, after the war we have the usual raping, looting, and general sacking of things from the loser. The spoils of war, you know...

So trusting your daughters' virginity, your wives' integrity, your goods' safety, and your homes' existence to ten super ninjas dueling with ten other super ninjas wouldn't be a very nice thing to do. Laughing

Anyway, nice to see IFC steps forward.

Wow. Sounds like a good idea for IFC to put Basilisk on their network. I have cable and I'm from Texas so I wonder how I can get IFC. Besides, I couldn't find the channle.
