Bit disappointed that they haven't got Sayonara Zetsubou-Sensei Sad

But on the bright side, they did get Angel Beats!

There's still Perth to come, so don't lose hope yet.

Angel Beats was pretty much a given after Madman said during Supanova in Brisbane that they didn't have the rights to it and it was 'too depressing' to say why.

Dennou Coil?! That's awesome--if nothing else I'll be keeping my streaming subscription for that. I may even watch Bunny Drop.

Yush, Angel Beats. I seriously hope that gets a bluray release. I may hold off getting the DVDs for now just in the hopes of the bluray.

Very, very excited to see an English DVD release for Dennou Coil - the app on the iTunes store is low quality, restricted to the small screen of my iPod and I simply don't have room to download all the episodes (and you can't delete them without wiping the whole lot - since it isn't clear that you can re-download them and it takes ages to download anyway I've not tried). Pity there has never been a BD release for this show, even in Japan.

*sighs* I don't understand the obsession with bluray, not all anime is created for HD, upscaling doesn't always do a title justice.

Most anime is broadcast in HD now, and Dennou Coil was no exception, so it is a shame it has only been released on DVD. Older shows digitally animated in SD don't always benefit much from upscaling (depending on the material and the processing done) but unless you do something badly wrong (like FUNimation's first release of Samurai Champloo) you should always benefit from the increased space and more modern codecs available on BD.

DVD upscaled in PowerDVD: https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/U-0eKMstqtrB1FlJehtEeg?feat=directlink

1080p TV capture: https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/nkGX4swJf_KV12qwfiEVUg?feat=directlink

Both suffer from compression but look in particular at the edges of the window.
