I took Deltakira advice and play Naruto Ultimate Ninja for the Gamecube, and I had to admit it as least playable. But that do not explained anime bad record in videogames. I have been burn by likes of Inuyasha,Pokemon, and Yugioh. And this is ashamed because I am a big anime and videogames fan and hopes of these two worlds merging has been unsucessful. Can anyone recommend four good anime videogames?

Do you mean anime that have been made into video games or video games that have been made into anime? You have examples of both there.

Or do you mean video games with anime style elements? Because there's a lot of those also.

Naruto: Ultimate Ninja was never on the Gamecube. It was on the Playstation 2.

Well, IMO the earlier Pokemon games for Game Boy were awesome. Red and Blue were really good. How could you not like those? Also, I thought Pokemon Stadium was decent. Hmmmm, as for four titles to recommend...well, I got all the Naruto games imported from Japan and they're all really good. Even though you said it was decent there are a blast if you have three friends over.

And you have no reason to be ashamed over crappy anime-to-game transitions being unsuccessful. Look at the videogame-to-movie transitions...they all suck pretty much. Super Mario, Bloodrayne, Doom...they all sucked.

I recommend School Rumble 2nd term on Playstation 2. If you love the series, you'll love that game. Cool

Can't help you there then. I haven't played a single video game based on an anime and liked it.

Video games that have been made into anime or video games with anime style elements are just usually better, mainly because they don't have to work around a pre-existed world, characters, etc. It just makes it a lot easier to be more free and creative and usually they just end up better.

In addition, more often than not, they're just made to feed upon an already established franchise, so they don't put as much effort into it.

And I see a lot of people seem to like Pokemon here. This only further proves my point, Pokemon was originally a video game.

Berserk and Record of Lodoss War on DreamCast, .hack// series was halfway decent outside of the repetitve gameplay, but now it's cheaper so it's not much of a problem. I can't think of any more off the top of my head . . .

Berserk for PS2 is pretty cool. It plays like a one man Dynasty Warriors and is bloody fun to play (literally). A friend of mine imported that and the Super Robot Wars games, and those look pretty interesting too (shame I can't understand enough Japanese to play them thoroughly).

As for U.S games, DBZ: Budokai 3 does an excellent job of capturing the fast, upbeat tempo of the series. Aside from the bad voice acting and cheesy piece of music that sounds like Rocky, it's a lot of fun to play.

The GitS: SAC game also looked cool, but I hated the controls and couldn't play it for more than 10 minutes.

Well IIRC Gungrave was the other way around, the anime based off the VG, but it's a pretty nice game. The bad part is it's pricey and only lasts for like 2 hours.

I don't know if I had post this before, but as far as Naruto games in the US goes, I would go with Naruto: Ultmate Ninja for the PS2. Super Smash Bros-ish fight engine, moves are easy to pull off (who needs to do complex movement to do a move in a SMB style engine.), and lots of areas to fight in. However, the extras (figures of the fighters, movies, cards, music, voice.) is bit borning, Bandai Namco/Viz needs cut back on the "Believe it"'s ALOT, 4 Player support would have really nice. That and it's really geared for the fans and fans only. Nothing new, just good old Naruto fighting. All and all, pretty good for a four year old game.

But as video game based anime market, it sucks. 90% of them are all there to cash in on the popular series. Yi-Gi-Oh, Dragonball (even more so for the last three games), and Gundam games prime exmples of this fact. There isn't a whole lot I can recommend outside the one that have been said, execpt Evangelion: Steel Girlfriend, however it only in fan translation form since it'll never see an offical translation due to it's age.

I have GitS: SAC, but I never took the wrapper off. It's my only, "I should have known better.", buy.

I bought the japanese version to have the japanese voices. It's really fun but also repetitive. Sad

The controls're really hard at the beginning but it's a very good game. (y)

I know what hell, GITS:SAC could of been such a great game (I am referring to PS2 game not the PSP) but the controls are damn impossible. Not only that it's take the fun out of playing with a friends, no one wants to play a game that takes forever to learn.

Berserk is probably one of my all time favorite games from the dreamcast era. I didn't even know about RoLW.....I think I am going to have to check ebay or maybe my local store still has one....That said I am still a fan of the 0079 Gundam game on Dreamcast, it was fun to play when it came out......unfortunely every Gundam game since has the same gameplay. As for the .hack games there definetly interesting stories but the gameplay is lacking.

As for games I want stateside, I want the four Blood games! Damn how am I suppose to learn about this series if I can't get a hold of the games! That said there are lots of games that never came stateside, if your interested in anime games your going to have to import.
