I've heard a lot different things about this series and I don't know what to do. I've heard it's boring, i heard it has a lot of action, and i heard it gets better in the later volumes. So give it to me straight from people who collect the series cause this is the only way i can be sure to spend the cash on it. Is it good and what's good about it? Or should I look somewhere else for good manga?

Personally I find Bleach to be a great read. In some cases I enjoy the manga more than the show. Anyway Bleach is definitley a series that takes a little time before you get to the real meat of the story (a hefty amount of time is spent on introductions, but it's still entertaining). However once they make it to Soul Society the story just snowballs and gets very addicting. If you enjoy shounen fare then Bleach should be right up your alley. If shounen isn't your gig or you're hit or miss with the genre then preview a few volumes and see what you think.

I've really enjoyed Bleach since it's been translated into English, and while it does get a lot better in the Soul Society arc, the early volumes are still pretty exciting.
The good is the artwork and style. It's such a sharp series visually that it's easy to really get pulled into it. It's not the best shonen series out there, but I've enjoyed reading it and have no intentions of stopping.
I agree with Trance; it's an easy recommendation if you're a shonen fan.

I just finished the first volume of the Manga and I enjoyed it alot. The art is good and there is a good amount of drama and comedy.

Sort of slow in the beginning, although still intriguing. A must view/read (not necessarily buy) for anyone like shonen manga.
I know I blew through the Soul Society thing in a matter of days Bleach gets real addicting real fast, and where viz is right now in translation is building towards the climax of the arc, very good stuff.

I've read all of it so far online (still considering if I like it enough to purchase it) and although I like it, it's far from my favorite shonen series. Bleach definetly has a coolness factor: the art, the characters, the general atmosphere is very easy to enjoy. However, I didn't like it at all until VERY late in the Soul Society arc, which had some incredible fights and scenes. But that may just be me. The earlier stories with the Hollows seemed very cliched and "monster-of-the-week" ish to me.

Bleach is awesome and I read all the way up to chapter 229. The story is pretty good and there are always twists and turns so you can never get bored. It's like, as soon as you think you are done with the manga, a whole new bunch of plots emerge. It especially gets interesting when the Arrancar get involved. That’s when powerful hollows fuse with shinigamis. Apart from that, you got the rest, there is a lot of action.

I thought the earlier voolumes were better than the beginning of the soul society arc. At fist I was like "I can't wait for them to rescue Rukia and get this over with" But now i actualy care. especially with the Kenpachi fight in volume 13. And now Uryu is fighting a captain....this series is very cliffhangerful.

Bleach has a bold, solid style that is quite appealing, and the characters are generally fun and entertaining. I definitely have to give Kubo Tite props for the number of plot twists he's able to throw into things.
That said, you have the usual tsuyoku naritai themes, so if you find yourself getting tired of seeing how many ways a bunch of mangaka can rehash what is essentially the same fighting/leveling up/tournament story you may want to wait on the series.
As for myself, I've fallen somewhat behind on my collecting of the volumes. I enjoy the series, and I will get more of it eventually, but right now I have other series I'm more interested in.

I would call Bleach mediocre, a "generic" shounen series if I ever read one. The manga and anime only seem distinctive because it's quite rare to see a "generic" shounen series (in comparison to the hundreds of generic "shojo" series) due to the tremendous competition among manga-ka for publishing outlets. Only the best get put into magazines like Shounen Jump, so something like Bleach needed an edge to be picked over all Kubo's competitors.
In Kubo's case, it's not his "distinctive" art style or the merit of his story (which are, if anything, sub par) but the actual detail and quality of his illustrations. Sure, his characters may look "common", but they're the best drawn "common" characters I have seen.
To contrast that, Naruto's spin was it's hook of a premise, as Kishimoto's art was pretty mainstream too.
For Eiichiro Oda, he had both bases covered, with a unique, detailled art style and an original premise.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Bleach manga until the point where Aizen is revealed as the chief conspirator (Spoilers if not up to Ch. 169). It was an enjoyable shounen series with good art, prettyful fights, a large cast of characters to become attached to, and a fun plot (although not entirely creative). After the Aizen incident, they all of a sudden threw in all sorts of nonsensical twists and ended the arc abruptly to start a new arc which consists of new uninspired villains and a dull and generic plot. All with numerous pacing problems.

I might be biased because I tend to like shonen fighting type stories, but I'd really recomend Bleach.
The first thing, as a couple of people have mentioned, is the art style. I'm not sure what about it exactly, but I guess you could say it's very angular, and has a sort of "trendy" feel to it? The whole manga has an interesting sense of style, from the chapter covers and names (at least the early ones) to the simple yet somehow pleasing character designs.
The story, while you could say is generic, is good too. It has enough intrigue to keep you reading, and somehow, it's depiction of the world of the afterlife seems fitting.
Although I've only read up to the latest English volume release, my friends who read the Japanese versions say that later on, it turns too much to fighting (my friend even called it "Dragon Bleach Z"). But again, if this isn't your type of thing to begin with, you might not even like some of the earlier segments.
Overall, it's worth a look. It's a bit dark humored, has a cool art style, and a conspiracy-type story to it (at least so far), making it a pretty good series.

Aizen, that really helps me, since I recently got back into DBZ, actually, and I like those fighting type series (except for S-CRY-ed). ^^

I actually really like the latest manga chapters. I'm kinda worried if everything will work itself out in a generic fashion, but this series hasn't really let me down yet.
The Soul Society arc will be pretty hard to top, but I've found most of the new chapters to be pretty interesting and entertaining.
