Heh, shows its fans are overwhelmingly paying for their shit, unlike manga cows. Yen Press would be wise to continue mining where the money is - young tween girls and their moms.

Maybe they can make so that the word balloons aren't covering the characters' faces this time

I dislike Twilight, but Yen Press is handling the project well. And by that I mean selling books, making profit, staying afloat, and licensing more series.
Seems like a nice deal. And, lets face it, physically the volumes are of very nice quality.

Twilight is the incoherent fantasy spawned from the addled mind of a sex starved Mormon -- is what I would like to say, but that is not fair. I've never read/watched any of the Twilight franchise, so I can not make an objective opinion on the subject, and anything I said of it would be nothing but hearsay. But whether this is good or bad, I don't care, if it sells like that. If Yen can make money of this deal, then they have more capital to get more manga from Japan, and there might even be something that I'd like. So keep buying, Team Whatsits-tards, we're all counting on you.

Yes, it's making lots of money, at a time when manga is hemorrhaging market. It's one of the few bright lights in a dark place. It's going against the trend; that's why it matters. It shows where there's money to be had - tween girls and their moms, who would pay for their crap. If more manga fans would pay for their crap, then they would more matter too.

Well said, mate. Couldn't agree with you more.
Regardless of my personal views on the series, I'm thrilled how well Twilight is doing monetarily because it ultimately opens more doors for Yen and that subsequently means more series and the continued high quality they've put forth so far.
I'm hoping at some point they'll pick up the Baccano! and/or Durarara!! light novels. I know it's x3 more expensive to translate and adapt them compared to manga or manhwa so I realize it could take some time, but with the respect and care they gave to Spice & Wolf I can't think of anyone else right now who could treat them better. I'd surely support them financially, even if I have to cut back on other things.

Barf.....I can't help but feel really sad that a manga version of an American made franchise is keeping a Japanese to English translation Manga company stable. And it just happens to be effing Twilight.....
And yes, I have read all 4 of the books. They were complete and utter trash just like the movies.
Has anyone seen The Oatmeal's video called "Why Twilight is so popular"? If not, go and watch it now.

I sure don't.But then again I seriously dislike Twilight. If this what Yen Press licenses these days, it's no wonder why I seldom hear much news about them.

Usually when I don't like a book, I don't read the sequels, just saying.

In the US, it is. But then, the US is not really a manga-buying country. But that's also what makes this "manga" success interesting.
In the meantime, the Twilight novel series have sold over 100 million copies, but that's worldwide. But then, that's in only 5 years, for only 4 books (so each volume averages more than 25 million copies), and at $10 to $20 per book. So one could argue, it's made more money than One Piece manga.

Well, we'd hear more news about them about other stuff lately if manga fans actually get some buying power worth making news about!

Oh c'mon! We watch some trash anime all the time and still finish it! 4 books is nothing.

See, I really see that as a GOOD thing. That Yen Press might be focusing on finishing the titles it has already (and guaranteed money-makers like Twilight) rather than liscensing a dozen new series every month until the company collapses on itself.
