This is a great idea. I've noticed lots of people online are really getting into Tokusatsu shows, especially the Kamen Rider stuff. It's really smart for Toei to cash in on this.

It's a step in the right direction, but let's hope that they incorporate those English subtitles a little bit faster than a year.
The American English-speaking fanbase for tokusatsu is much bigger than most might think. A couple of my friends are huge fans and go so far as to import all the toys and paraphernalia. |

WELL, IT'S ABOUT GODDAMN TIME!!
I've been saying "If Toei really wants to cash in on this, they'll open up a Hulu-style streaming site where they can put their shows up in Japanese with English subtitles." And they're finally going to do EXACTLY THAT!! The only problem I have is this: Toei has not had a terribly good track-record with providing their shows with good subtitles. Digimon Tamers and the early Netflix versions of Digimon Adventure and Digimon Adventure 02 had abysmal subtitle quality, and while good, their Hulu subs for Fist of the North Star, Captain Harlock, Slam Dunk and so forth have some fairly obvious formatting errors. And I don't think I need to make note of the whole debacle that Discotek had with the initial subs on their Fist of the North Star movie DVD. I'm hoping that, for their tokusatsu shows like Kamen Rider and Super Sentai, they'll find the time and personnel to create some good subs that are free of grammatical errors, mistranslations and formatting goofs. The US tokusatsu fanbase, due to such groups as TV-Nihon, has become incredibly picky as to the quality of their English subtitles. If Toei wants to properly cater to this fanbase, their going to have to pull their sh** together. |

awesome!!! I'm really excited about this.
I hope some of Toei's magical girl Tokusatsu shows (Suki! Suki! Majo-sensei, Mahou Shoujo Paipai, and Bishoujo Kamen Poitrine for example) make it to this channel as well! I really really want to want to watch them but even a high quality opening sequence is really hard to find... but I'll watch whatever they offer and just hope for the best. |

The problem is WHERE will it be available here in the US, and WHEN?

This is actually pretty darn interesting. I'm worried about Toei subs of course, but I might check it out if they offered some Sentai.

I had no idea anyone even made female-targeted tokusatsu shows (outside of adaptations like Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon) until I read your post. That's pretty cool. |

I wonder if this will also include the Spider Man Tokusatsu show?

Marvel's been streaming that for a while, just in case you didn't know. |

I got bad news, according to Japanator, it looks Toei's English-subtitled channel may not make it to the US. It looks like it relate to MyGlobeTV, which is not going to renew Toei Channel. The only way for Super Sentai, and Kamen Rider to get a legal stream in the US, they're going to have to use Dramafever, Viki, and Crunchyroll to stream these.
EDIT: Henshin Justice confirmed this 3 days ago. Here's hoping Toei could use Dramafever, Viki, and Crunchyroll to have these stream. |

I submitted the HJU link to the news e-mail the day it came out. Apparently they weren't interested in reporting it.
