Cue piracy argument number 775. I wonder why they haven't figured out that they should just not upload stuff in Japan after this has happened like four times already. Is internet attention so important it's worth jail time over there?

Because employed people have less time/need to pirate anime? Though I think there was a few cases in the past of office workers being arrested |

Most likely propaganda. If they only go after a single employed person who uploaded it wouldn't have as much effect as arresting some uploader who has the unemployment stigma. |

Because Japan values work, and arresting a hard worker would degrade their values. Anyway, why do they still upload using Share? There are other, more low-profile ways of sharing things online... Last edited by jmaeshawn on Sat Apr 30, 2011 4:19 pm; edited 1 time in total |

Y'do the crime, y'do the time.
I wasn't under the impression that only unemployed uploaders have been targeted... what has led you to be of this opinion? That is to say, on what information do you base this claim? Also, who do you mean by "they", do you mean the Japanese government or just "the man" anywhere in the world? I readily admit that I haven't closely been following the socio-economic status of arrested uploaders, so from a statistical vantage I'm somewhat curious. |

Because some of them have no life and rather steal then look for another job |

After that earthquake and tsunami I think the only jobs available are cleanup jobs. |

I somehow doubt that they target the unemployed, except to the extent that a bigger share of the people who indulge in piracy are likely to be unemployed. It certainly seems intuitive to expect them to be, although intuition is an even worse synonym for data than anecdote.
I feel obliged to notet the Japanese unemployment rate is 4.6%, although those figures exclude the prefectures worst affected by the earthquake and the case would probably appear direr if one were to consider those not seeking work, which is probably relatively high in Japan given its abundance of elders. Labor statistics tend to be fraught with nuisances. |

lol, Not the entire Japan has earth quake. Tokyo is not the entire. just like Tornadoes run over southern Americans Tornadoes kill 340 in southern American. it doesn't mean the entire US has the same problem. Japan has the lower unemployment rate than US by the way. |
