I was in wal-mart yesterday and in the book aisle I saw vol. 1 of Kingdom Hearts. I've never heard of a manga being produced of it, and I really enjoyed the game, so I was wondering if anybody has read it, and what your opinion of it was.

I heard of this and but I haven't gotten a chance to read it. I heard that disney was supposed to be making a kingdom hearts cartoon as well.

It's going to be made by disney so that may put the "may be an anime" question to bed. However they may adopt an anime style that will work for Sora, Kairi, Rikku and the Final Fantasy characters while still keeping their Disney style the same. They already kind of do that for the games. I mean, Sora's rediculously huge shoes say Disney all over the place while the rest of his adrogonous self screams anime.

Well I've been reading it. So far the only negative thing I have to say about it is that the begining isn't fleshed out. It rushes to get things moving. For example Riku and Sora don't have thier contest for who gets to name the ship. But the comic is actually pretty good. Also the artwork is nice. The Disney characters don't look out of place at all. No character looks forced on another. They all look like they belong together. The manga is certainly a fan pleaser. I haven't finished it yet but so far it has been like an abridged version of the game's story. I can't complain though especially after coming off of the atrocious SVC Chaos manwha. I can't say enough bad things about that comic. As far as Kingdom Hearts its entertaining and for 6 bucks you really can't go wrong.

Last year, I think? I'd say, if you really want the full KH experience though, just play the game. Again. You know you want to.  The manga is more like for when you want to take KH with you on the bus or something.

I would like to say that this is atapted by the game, the story is by Amano Shiro, the creator that made "swords of mana". so its a bit different.

i read it and i have volumes one and two... it's good and all and it goes with the game, but the way they draw it is weird. you wouldn't say it's like the way they drew Sora, Riku, and Kairi the same as on the PS2, but overall the story's okay...
. but if you want to read the KH series then go knock your brains out

Late 90's? I thought manga series was based on the video game, not the other way around. Kingdom Hearts came out around... 2001-2002-ish didn't it? All I know now is that in Japan, they've already started the Chain of Memories arc. I didn't care for the GBA game much, so that may be the only Kingdom Hearts manga I pick up because seriously, I wasn't impressed with CoM. It would be a good read for borrowing, but I read a bit of it and thought playing the video game was well enough for me. I'm such a lazy manga reader.

The first volume is only 96 pages and the second is only 144 pages so that's probably why they're cheap.

seeing as how the Kingdom Hearts story gets kinda dark later down the road, i wonder how Disney plan to pull this off.
