It appears to be available from Itunes on my iPhone, but when I try to download, it errors out.
You guys finally talk to someone I'm interested in listening to and... denied. |

It's working fine for me on iTunes. There are for some reason 2 separate feeds for the show, one which works and one doesn't and we haven't figured out to get rid of the busted one. Make sure you're using this feed: http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/anime-news-networks-anncast/id328166174 |

I'll try accessing that but I don't know if the iPhone is going to play nice with that link. DOWNLOADING! Thanks Zac. (I really need to upgrade my old iphone 3g to something less ancient and underpowered.) Btw and I haven't listened yet, but if you still have a line of communication open with the mangagamers people, could you please beg them for a patch for Shuffle!'s text issues? Maybe they'll listen to you. |

I think they're confusing the doujin group that Hiromu Arakawa was a part of that wrote the story with something chinese. For whatever reason they just have a chinese name. Personally I saw Hero Tales to be like Mao-Chan, a famous well known author just putting something together as a cash-in without really caring.
You would be surprised by how much money One Piece fans have when they don't buy One Piece. As hugely popular as One Piece is the series sells worse than Soul Eater in America whose famous for being the "other Shonen Gan Gan series". Americans are pretty panicky, they took the nuculear reactors worse than the Japanese. When it was announced that no one in America was in danger the users of the Huffington Post immediately started to panic declaring that everyone is lying. |

Nice interview. It sounds like he really would like to do some of the bigger titles, such as the Fate/Stay games, but the cost to download would be problematic. It does sort of hurt when I visit their site and see Shuffle! for almost half what I paid for it now.
I guess next paycheck I need to buy Koihime Musou as a gift for a couple friends to help up those numbers. (It is a fun game, the battle simulation is really fun.) |

Kinda liked Hero Tales when I watched in on TV, but yeah, it's pretty forgettable. Probably wouldn't have bothered if I had to buy or download it.

For scale, War and Peace is 3.2 MB.

Yeah, you go ahead and enjoy your little imagination while it lasts. But... just... out of curiosity, how do you know that One Piece is hugely popular in the USA? Surely not online forums, because last I heard none of them IP block other countries. |

Cool to hear John on the show. If you're interested in visual novels definitely check out their demos at their site and let them know what you think.
Although, what John probably should have mentioned is that some of these VNs get ported to the PSP, Xbox 360 and other platforms in Japan. Some of them originally have adult content, but they cut those out and release them on those systems. I'm not sure how the Japanese fans feel about the cut content, but it's no surprise that most fans out west want it all or use other methods. Hmm... On that note, it's too bad to hear that Sony (not sure about Microsoft, although there are a couple short visual novels on the Indie Marketplace on Live) are so reluctant about VNs getting exposure out west. As John mentioned, Phoenix Wright is a notable series now and Aksys' "999" on the DS got rave reviews. This is an untapped market and potential to really capture an audience if they let them. I'm not sure how Manga Gamer would go about on game platforms, but hearing that Steam is a bit accepting is good to hear. |

I really need to try out Higurashi one of these days, love the anime for that a lot and have always been curious to see what that game experience is like.

Great Podcast.
I have been wanting to get more into the VN realms these days, but part of the problem at least with my end is the time commitment. I mean I put a lot of hours into console games, but the difference is I can lay on my stomach when I play my console games. I try to do my best and limit the amount of time I sit in front of a PC so there is a limit there on the amount of time I can invest on in these games at a given time. Given that I did enjoyed the Shuffle! anime I just purchased the VN like five minutes ago. I would like to see the Key games get an English translations since I have been curious about playing them along with the To Heart! games. I know once a street date for School Days HQ comes out I'm going to pre-order it and I already have My girlfriend is the President on pre-order. Catherine is another title than I am going to pre-order int he near future as well. |

I hope someone did capture and does post -the audio at least- the One Piece Charity Podcast. I was buried by school, stuck in the lab, all weekend.
Everyone I know who tuned in said it was really good. |

While you might guess that One Piece is the manga equivalent of Soccer I highly doubt that every country except the United States loves One Piece. Generally the series the U.S doesn't like that other countries do is stuff like Saint Seiya that didn't arrive until 15 years later |
