Good god, the next One Piece film will sell even more if it's written by Oda himself

This is really sad.
I hope Toei can put out something not One Piece-related that beats this record soon.

I'm puzzled how this film did better than the Battle of Gods movies, but I'm happy that it did so well, none the less.

I'm glad to see it succeeded. While I'm aware Japan sort of treats the series as some sort of household family product nowadays, I did think film Z was a pretty good one piece film. not perfect, but I do think it was a great step above strong world (which isn't a bad movie either, but it's a lot more of a 'fanservice' film than Z I believe)

Simply amazing. Fans must've really enjoyed the fact that Oda was involved the first time and could not wait to see what he had planned next.

This is both good and bad. Good because it obviously means it was very successful, bad since it means Toei will likely ask Oda sooner rather than later to participate in yet another film despite his current condition and him obviously needing time for himself.

i thought it went over 70 million us..... still very high, i guess its really popular over there, but what makes it better than the last movie, or even battle of the gods for that matter, must be all the kids.

It did. But the yen was much higher a few months ago. It lost around 30% in the past few months because of the japanese's governement economic policies. But the total in dollars is irrelevant anyway, Toei will only care about the total in yen (as will all the japanese distributors for their respective movies).

I don't suppose we can get a domestic release of this movie anytime soon?

We're just now getting Strong World in English - it's gonna take a little time.

Battle of Gods in horrible. The only reason it sale because of DBZ characters.
