It'd be nice if there was a demo, but I doubt there will be.

Sometimes these long delays are killer for me. I was still interested last July/August, a year after it was announced, but that interest has sort of died down. Will I buy it now? Probably not. I wish the iron had been struck while it was hot, or at least warm, but now I have nothing but cold steel and NIS finally found their hammer.

Is anyone else surprised this is Digital only?
I remember when this was announced they talked about bringing over a Figma I believe in some sort of big collectors edition and its gone from that to just Digital only.
I dont really care as i have no interest in playing this but am i wrong to be surprised this is digital only or was that an announcement they made a whiles back?

Just when I thought this game would never make it to America. Well depending on the price I might give it a go. Played in Japanese a while back. Had no idea what was going on.

I'd be more surprised if it was physical. Hell it's surprising it's coming out. The PSP has simply been a dead system for quite awhile that it makes no sense to release it physically.
I'm interested in this game, though I really have no idea what it's like. It's stylings are not normally my cup of tea and well I didn't care about the anime . Still something about the way it looks appeals to me and I've been waiting for awhile. It sucks there's no box copy, but I'll take what I can get.

I don't doubt they looked into doing the Figma - if I had to guess though, it probably didn't add up, especially for a PSP game (and, as has ended up being the case, a much delayed PSP game). I seem to recall Aksys or someone talking about the complications that come with including figures, although unfortunately I don't remember where I read that exactly...perhaps kind of a given though, either way.
I'm looking forward to finally playing this thing. It looks interesting.

It's not really been dead this year there's been a number of new games including Corpse Party 2, Generations Of Chaos VI, Growlanser IV (Europe), Grungir (Europe) and now Black Rock Shooter. I believe there is also Carnage Heart coming out from Natsume soon aswell.
That's a better lineup then the Vita has had this year so far.

Wha-what?! How can you say that? lol I played thru most of this game in Japanese back when it came out, and I loved the battle style etc, but now that it's finally coming out stateside I'll be able to know WTF is going on story-wise. I really hope the voices weren't overdubbed...and just the text changed where necessary. I'm really looking forward to getting this when I can since it'll be available.

Digital is the only way to release it in NA. You'd be alienating the Vita owners if you made it physical, but digital is playable by both PSP and Vita owners.

This and the anime are completely original and separate from each other. The anime focused on parallel worlds with fantastical characters who fight to help girls overcome their stress. The game, however, is about the end of the world, due to these humanoid aliens who have come down to have fun on earth, and BRS is Earth's last stand against them. It's a pretty cliche premise at first, but it's full of midly shocking twists, including Black Rock Shooter's identity and the fate of the human race.
The game is quite repetitive and, when I first put it in and it wasn't what I expected, I felt somewhat disappointed... but to be honest, I got attached to it after a bit of time and began to love it--especially the boss battles. The gameplay system may be simple, but it has limitations in battle that make it important to strategize and watch what you're doing on screen, making it pretty thrilling at times. And the designs are really neat, too. The soundtrack would've been pretty bland, but there are a few tracks that are actually pretty beautiful, and the story and characters are very nice, even if they are simple. It takes a lot to get me interested in completing even the post-game stuff, which this succeeded in doing (the only thing I wasn't able to do was the final thing--beating the final mission, which is a harder-difficulty boss-run).
So in the end, it's a hit or a miss. You either love it for being different, pretty, and thrilling at times, or you dislike it for being simple, short, and too repetitive at times.

Yeah. I love how that turned out. Could've said long before that it wasn't coming out on Canada. After all, you know, Canada is part of North America. It's just not the US, you know.
To think I was hyped and willing to put the money down for an LE too.
Really awesome to find its only digital too. (Yeah, yeah. I know you can make a US account but that's beside the point.)
One of the stronger points to why I freaking hate Digital only. Sure, it makes sense but at the same time....blah.

It's pretty much dead as a viable platform you can release physical games for. Thats what I was getting at. I think Gowlanser is the only one that received a physical release?
