I don't know if there is already a thread like these but I still wanna ask something about anime songs.
I mean, who wouldn't be caught dead singing the opening or ending theme of the anime we're watching... It's like a medicine that we take everyday... It's better than songs played in the local radio all day long. Even though we haven't noticed, we are singing it(sometimes out loud) in the middle of the class...(which happened to me one time) We also have a secret or a special folder in our pc's dedicated to anime songs... Also, you collect tons of cd just to listen to that song! and lastly, you can't help yourself but to download anime songs even though it will test your patience! So which anime do you think have the best songs/soundtrack. And what song do you like of the said anime?! well, for me, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles has the best soundtrack ever! I mean I like all the song which involves Kajiura Yuki's name! God, she knows how to make quality music. And here are the songs I ilke in TRC: 1)A Song of Storm and Fire- i really like the chanting thing... "ide nadima zahimash niha..." I also like the gregorian chant appeal of the music... and it really sounds mysterious that's why I love it! 2)Loop-This is the first song I've memorized in Tsubasa Soundtrack. The song really reflects the anime and has a cute meaning in English. 3)Yume no Tsubasa- I prefer the duet version of this in japanese. A song perfectly made for the lovig couple, Syaoran and Sakura! 4)Kaze no Machi he- this song was performed by Oruha, the singer in the Clover bar(the i1demon). It's really touching that's why I like it. So, which anime song has given you an LSS(Last Song Syndrome)? "ide nadima zahimash niha... idekai, azorai, aneta i ode ezai idela..." |

This thread (besides obviously belonging in the music forum) seems to be slightly different than the other "popular" (throwing the term loosely here) in music forum (asking not only for anime containing our favorite music, but our favorite tracks in it as well), so I suppose I'll give it a shot, with one of the series containing some of my favorite music, Suzumiya Haruhi.
God Knows - Everyone loves this song, and so do I! Powerful energy, an awesome guitar, and Hirano Aya's wonderful singing voice makes this song a win. Lost My Music - I like this song just as much, if not more than, God Knows. The part where she's half shouting half singing ("I still I still I love you!") really snared me, and so does the super guitar solo towards the end. The Mysterious - One of my favorite songs from the series, and perhaps one of the tracks that makes me adore the music of Haruhi so much. It sports a light blues feel and overall is just really relaxing and produces a calm atmosphere which is especially fitting for parts of the series. Gekiretsu da Karei Naru Hibi - Kind of funky and a really upbeat song, this is the song that plays when Haruhi first introduces herself in Episode 2. A really nice song to listen to and the metallic "SOS" chanting at the end makes the song even more a pleasure to listen to. Mystery Time - The song that plays when Itsuki and Kyon are in the limo in Episode 13, this is the song that really drew me to that episode and provided a really calm yet mysterious atmosphere. More slow-paced than The Mysterious, it features alto saxophone and its haunting yet beautiful melody really pierces through your ears. Nagato no Kokuhaku - Song that plays when Nagato gives Kyon the explanation in Episode 2/3. Sets a completely different atmosphere than the above songs, and gives a really mysterious sci-fi feel. I also like how the whole song is comprised of interludes, often with piano to fill in the spaces. And it's almost entirely synthetic and the bass is up really high. Nagato vs. Asakura - Self-explanatory, it's a cool techno/electronic song except with a violin playing randomly (which produces a pretty cool effect). This song is really ingrained into me as it really made the scene where it plays completely awesome and worthwhile to watch, and plus it was synced really well. |

I've hummed more than a few tunes at school. The only time anyone actually commented on it was when I hummed "Colors" by FLOW, the first Code Geass opening theme. Really surprised me, because I didn't realize that the person who commented on it even watched anime. He was just a random classmate.
When no one else is around, I actually sing random anime tunes to myself. *NOTE: I'm a horrible singer* Just yesterday, I sang: "Kawaita Sakebi" by Field of View - This is the opening theme of the badly-animated first Yugioh series.(not licensed outside of Japan) The first time I heard it, the song just got stuck in my head. Its slow rock-style showed its age, but I actually enjoyed it, because I actually listened to that kind of music when I was 4-10 years old. "Cruel Angel's Thesis" by Youko Takahashi - Ah, the Evangelion opening theme. I never get tired of it. I actually played background music on my piano while singing this. A background piece from Rahxephon - I don't know what the actual name of the song is, but when I heard it in last night's episode of "The Simpsons", I just started singing along for some reason. "DoLL" by TERRA - not actually an anime song, but it's from Dance Dance Revolution Supernova, and the video that went with it was obviously inspired by Gundam. |

I have at times sung anime songs, not so much anymore. Me, my brother, and my sister used to be really big on singing Crayon Shinchan songs, and my sister and me at times would compete at who could sing the Case Closed theme songs better. These days I have sung the Rozen Maiden theme song, though I don't know all of it and just end up humming the rest of the song.

I'm not going to post my fave soundtracks anymore because I already have it in another post.. Anyway, I've never been embarassed of listening/singing anime music.. I love anime music, and I think people who know me know that.. I even sung songs to them (who have never watched animes in their lives) and explained the meaning to them..
I also don't keep a secret folder of anime songs in my PC. It's not a secret for me.. anyone can check it out if they wanted to.. I think it's cool, and I don't care what anyone else thinks.. Back in high school I used to hang out with kids who love anime and anime music as much as I do, and we would sing the OP/ED themes to animes we like in chorus.. we would get weird stares from our classmates, but I'm like "so what? I don't stare at you when you sing horrible boy band music" after all that's been said, erm, typed, I'm sure all of you know that I don't like anime music.. kidding!! I LOVE ANIME MUSIC!! |

I'm always listening to music, and I've even been caught singing J-POP and anime songs in the middle of the street. And since I'm a music student (supposedly), it even worsens .
I sing almost any song I like when I'm working on my PC or just listening to my iPod, but I don't remember if I sang something yesterday... Oh, I think I do: Aside from the DragonForce songs I have (I love that group), I sang Mi-Title (Utaibito Hane), Dreams and Yume No Naka E (Siam Shade), Makka na Chikai (Fukuyama Yoshiki), Motherland (Crystal Kay), and there's never a day when I don't sing my fave song, HIRO-X's The Meaning Of Truth. And mind you, I'm not a pretty good singer -_-U |

Just out of curiosity, I was wondering if anyone knew whether the DDR video for Doll by Terra was an actual anime series? Or if it was just something created specifically for that game... I can't use that song in game mode. I get too distracted watching the video and I miss the arrows.

What's the theme of this thread exactly, anime songs we sing along to? Well, not speaking more than a dozen words of Japanese, it's typically songs with plenty of English in them. The two that I've probably sung along with the most are the ending themes to the two Ranma 1/2 movies, "It's Love" and "Piece of Love," the former being one of my favorite songs ever, anime or otherwise. The guitarwork is just wicked awesome, and that chorus of "Don't you KNOW know know, it's love" just has a way of drilling itself into your head.
I also second the Evangelion theme, one of the first (almost) entirely Japanese songs I memorized the lyrics to, thanks to ADV's bilingual song subtitles. EDIT: Forgot one: "Little Busters" by the Pillows, from the FLCL soundtrack. It helps that they sing the chorus, what, 20 times during the song? It's inescapably catchy. |

First up is Macross: Do You Remember Love and its theme song, Ai Oboetimasuka?. It is at least to me one of the best uses of music in an anime, and certainly one of the most memorable songs. I admit to singing Ai Oboeteimasuka all the time. I also enjoy the soundtracks to BGC, A-Ko, Yamato, City Hunter, Urusei Yatsura, but for big orchestral oomph, really the best anime composers in the business today are Yuji Ohno (Lupin), Joe Hishaishi (sp?) (Ghibli) and Yoko Kanno (too many to mention) in my opinion. |

In high school I actually used the first Ranma 1/2 opening song for an english assignment, I believe in 10th grade. She had us submit a poem, sonet, or song lyrics just to get us involved. Simple assignment! We would get extra credit if we recited it in front of the class by memory. So, I took the time to remember all the english lyrics at the bottom of the screen and stood up in front of the class and recited the whole thing, even to the tune (I'm not THAT bad at singing so it wasn't terrible. I had a solo part in a school play after forced auditions ).
I still love to sing along to anime! Even if I'm much older... Whenever my friends and I go to karaoke, we always pick "Ai Oboeteimasuka" and sing that. We also sing various j-pop songs that come to mind as well. So, I really haven't lost the love for the music and singing along! And some Deen song that I got hooked on. My mom liked one of the songs when I went home to visit once. ... I just realized I revealed something semi-embarrassing about my past... GAH I love singing along to Maaya Sakamoto songs so I like Escaflowne music, the Rahxephon Opening, etc. Record of Lodoss War opening song is also very sweet and makes me happy Pure Snow I've always liked to sing to. Was it from Himikoden? There are really too many to list! WAHH!! I'm a sing-a-holic I think... |

I can only imagine the funny looks you got singing "Yappa paa yappa paa" over and over again. This actually reminds me of an assignment I had in high school, where we were presenting on music from different cultures of the world. I took Japan, and I played a few minutes of Taiko drumming that put everyone to sleep, then played the season 1 Ranma theme and the entire class just laughed hysterically. Good times! |
